The BBL15 season gets underway on December 14th 2025, and BBL15 squads are starting to take shape following the inaugural Player Movement Window that took place during early 2025, and the subsequent overseas player draft held in June. During the Player Movement Window, we saw seven players find a new team, three of those heading to the Melbourne Renegades.
Here are the signings, availabilities and updated BBL15 squads for all eight BBL15 teams.

Adelaide Strikers
The Adelaide Strikers lose Brendan Doggett (Renegades) and Jake Weatherald (Hurricanes), although they have picked up Jason Sangha, previously from the Thunder. Sangha has performed strongly for Australia A, albeit in longer formats of the game. They also pick up Mackenzie Harvey who was not signed by the Renegades. Harvey is renowned for his elite fielding prowess and fills a top-order role with Weatherald’s departure. On the international front, the Strikers chased quick bowlers, signing England’s Luke Wood, Pakistan’s Hasan Ali, while allrounder Jamie Overton returns for a third season in Adelaide.
Strikers squad: Hasan Ali*, Cameron Boyce, Jordan Buckingham, Alex Carey, Mackenzie Harvey, Thomas Kelly, Harry Nielsen, Jamie Overton*, Lloyd Pope, Alex Ross, Jason Sangha, Liam Scott, Matt Short, Henry Thornton, Luke Wood*
Brisbane Heat
The Brisbane Heat’s pace bowling stocks have been further bolstered with the number one pick in the draft, which saw them sign Shaheen Shah Afridi from Pakistan. Afridi will share pace duties with the likes of Spencer Johnson, Xavier Bartlett and Michael Neser. Leg spinner Mitch Swepson departs for the Stars, but the Heat picked up youngsters Lachlan Hearne and Hugh Weibgen. Colin Munro and Tom Alsop both return for the Heat. Marnus Labuschagne remains uncontracted right now.
Heat squad: Shaheen Shah Afridi*, Tom Alsop*, Xavier Bartlett, Max Bryant, Lachlan Hearne, Spencer Johnson, Usman Khawaja, Matt Kuhnemann, Nathan McSweeney, Colin Munro*, Michael Neser, Jimmy Peirson, Matthew Renshaw, Callum Vidler, Hugh Weibgen, Jack Wildermuth
Hobart Hurricanes
The defending champion Hobart Hurricanes made not one, but two significant signings, with Beau Webster returning to the club and destructive left-hander Jake Weatherald, the Strikers leading run scorer in BBL history, joining the Tasmanian team. Weatherald fills the void with Caleb Jewell moving to the Renegades during the Player Movement Window. Chris Jordan was already under contract as one of their international signings. The Hurricanes signed Bangladesh’s Rishad Hossain, a leg spinner, and English allrounder Rehan Ahmed. The squad looks strong again and the Hurricanes will be expected to be near the top of the standings once again.
Hurricanes squad: Rehan Ahmed*, Iain Carlisle, Nikhil Chaudhary, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Rishad Hossain*, Chris Jordan*, Ben McDermott, Riley Meredith, Mitch Owen, Billy Stanlake, Matthew Wade, Jake Weatherald, Beau Webster, Mac Wright
Melbourne Renegades
The Melbourne Renegades have secured a world-class wicketkeeper in the form of Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan with the fourth pick in the draft. It is a promising offseason for the Renegades, who, despite a BBL title in 2018-19, have been disappointing since. Jason Behrendorff is a substantial pick up for the Gades, who also add Brendan Doggett from the Strikers and Caleb Jewell from the Hurricanes. The only out is Mackenzie Harvey which is no real loss to the Renegades as he wasn’t a player that the franchise could rely on. Hassan Khan returns, along with Tim Seifert as Melbourne’s other international players. All eyes will be on Jake Fraser-McGurk this season after last season’s forgettable output, excluding his one-game heroics.
Renegades squad: Jason Behrendorff, Josh Brown, Harry Dixon, Brendan Doggett, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Caleb Jewell, Hassan Khan*, Nathan Lyon, Fergus O'Neill, Ollie Peake, Mohammad Rizwan*, Tom Rogers, Tim Seifert*, Will Sutherland, Adam Zampa
Melbourne Stars
Plenty of familiar names remain with the Stars with Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Scott Boland and Hilton Cartwright. The three international players are the returning Englishmen Tom Curran and Joe Clarke, and Pakistan quick Haris Rauf who boasts 36 wickets from 22 matches. The loss of Beau Webster could hurt and Joel Paris also joins him as a departure, while they have added Liam Hatcher from the Thunder and leg spinner Mitch Swepson from the Heat. Remarkably, Peter Siddle will go around again at the age of 41 once the season commences.
Stars squad: Scott Boland, Hilton Cartwright, Joe Clarke*, Tom Curran*, Liam Hatcher, Glenn Maxwell, Hamish McKenzie, Haris Rauf*, Tom Rogers, Peter Siddle, Mark Steketee, Marcus Stoinis, Mitch Swepson
Perth Scorchers
The Perth Scorchers will notice the absence of Jason Behrendorff who heads east to join the Renegades. Behrendorff’s left-arm pace captured 140 wickets for the Scorchers in his tenure and will be a noticeable loss. They welcome back Joel Paris who had a good campaign last season for the Stars, and have signed Bryce Jackson, a right arm quick from Albany who has recently represented Australia A. New Zealand’s Finn Allen is returning and is joined by Laurie Evans who returns to the club after playing for the Renegades last season, and David Payne who started with the Scorchers before heading to the Strikers. The Scorchers are always competitive in the Big Bash with their deep roster that includes Mitch Marsh, Josh Inglis and Ashton Turner, just to name a few.
Scorchers squad: Ashton Agar, Finn Allen*, Mahli Beardman, Cooper Connolly, Laurie Evans*, Sam Fanning, Aaron Hardie, Nick Hobson, Josh Inglis, Bryce Jackson, Matthew Kelly, Mitch Marsh, Lance Morris, Joel Paris, David Payne*, Jhye Richardson, Ashton Turner
Sydney Sixers
The Sydney Sixers have the most exciting signing ahead of the BBL15 season with Pakistan great Babar Azam joining the team. Azam is expected to play all tournament too which is a huge boon for cricket fans as the run machine will be keen to show his class throughout the competition. Sam Curran is another major signing with the English allrounder likely to play a handful of games prior to the finals if they make it. Jafer Chohan rounds out the internationals for the Sixers. At the moment, no player has left the Sixers as they rely on key players such as Moises Henriques, Sean Abbott, Josh Phillipe, Steve Smith and Ben Dwarshuis to try and win a fourth BBL title.
Sixers squad: Sean Abbott, Babar Azam*, Jafer Chohan*, Sam Curran*, Joel Davies, Ben Dwarshuis, Jack Edwards, Moises Henriques, Todd Murphy, Mitch Perry, Josh Philippe, Jordan Silk, Steve Smith
Sydney Thunder
The Sydney Thunder are opting for a tried-and-true approach to BBL15 with familiar names everywhere. Liam Hatcher and Jason Sangha have left the team, while their international signings are Lockie Ferguson, Shadab Khan and Sam Billings. Ferguson and Billings return to the team from last season, while Khan has played 12 games combined for the Heat, Sixers and Hurricanes. Former Australian superstar David Warner had a terrific BBL14 and will open the batting with Sam Konstas likely to be alongside him at the crease to kickstart their innings. The Thunder aim to go one better after falling to the Hurricanes in The Final last year.
Thunder squad: Wes Agar, Tom Andrews, Cameron Bancroft, Sam Billings*, Ollie Davies, Lockie Ferguson*, Matt Gilkes, Chris Green, Ryan Hadley, Shadab Khan*, Sam Konstas, Nathan McAndrew, Daniel Sams, Tanveer Sangha, David Warner
