The KFC Big Bash League (BBL) is set to ignite the Australian summer once again, and the upcoming BBL15 season is shaping up to be the most explosive yet. Following a flurry of off-season activity that has seen some of the world's biggest T20 stars flock to Australian shores, the release of the full BBL15 schedule has fans marking their calendars for a summer of high-octane cricket.
A significant injection of international talent, led by the likes of Pakistani superstar Babar Azam joining the Sydney Sixers and pace sensation Shaheen Shah Afridi being snapped up by the Brisbane Heat, has set the stage for some electrifying encounters. These marquee signings, coupled with a host of domestic player movements, promise a season filled with intriguing narratives and fresh rivalries.
The BBL15 season will kick off on Sunday, 14 December 2025, with a massive opening night clash in Perth. The Perth Scorchers will host the Sydney Sixers at Optus Stadium, in a blockbuster featuring Babar Azam's much-anticipated debut.
The comprehensive regular season schedule will see each team play ten games. The season is packed with fan-favourite fixtures, including the traditional Boxing Day and New Year's Eve blockbusters, ensuring a continuous feast of cricket throughout the holiday period.
The season will culminate in the high-stakes BBL Finals series, retaining the popular four-game format that will see the top teams battle it out for a spot in the coveted BBL15 Final on Sunday, 25 January 2026.

Season Opener: Perth Scorchers vs. Sydney Sixers
Date: Sunday, 14 December 2025
Significance: The first match of BBL15 and the official BBL debut of Pakistan's batting maestro, Babar Azam, for the Sydney Sixers.
BBL14 Grand Final Rematch: Hobart Hurricanes vs. Sydney Thunder
Date: Tuesday, 16 December 2025
Significance: A replay of the previous season's decider, where the Hobart Hurricanes will begin their title defence against the team they conquered for their maiden championship.
Sydney Smash: Sydney Thunder vs. Sydney Sixers
Date: Saturday, 20 December 2025
Significance: The first of two Sydney derbies, as the fierce cross-town rivals battle for early-season bragging rights at ENGIE Stadium.
Boxing Day Double-Header
Date: Friday, 26 December 2025
Significance: A festive cricket feast sees the Sydney Sixers take on the Melbourne Stars at the SCG, followed by the Perth Scorchers hosting the Hobart Hurricanes at Optus Stadium.
