NBL26 Ignite Cup Final Prediction & Betting Tips
Adelaide 36ers vs New Zealand Breakers
The Ignite Cup final takes place this Sunday at 4:30pm AEDT at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Adelaide 36ers will take on the New Zealand Breakers in the first-ever decider of the NBL’s new mid-season tournament. Introduced for NBL26, the Ignite Cup runs alongside the regular season with extra midweek games and a unique quarter-by-quarter scoring format. The winner collects $300,000 from the $400,000 prize pool, with $100,000 going to the runner-up.
The Adelaide 36ers secured their spot as one of the competition’s strongest sides. They booked their ticket with a convincing 107-74 win over Brisbane on 28 January. The 36ers have been in excellent form throughout the season. Bryce Cotton continues to lead from the front with his scoring, while the team’s defence has been tough and they dominate the rebounding battle.
The New Zealand Breakers finished outside the play-in positions but still earned a place in the final. They advanced after South East Melbourne defeated Perth earlier in the campaign. New Zealand showed their attacking potential in their most recent outing, thumping Cairns 115-84 on 19 February. Parker Jackson-Cartwright directs traffic with sharp playmaking, and Sam Mennenga adds athleticism and energy around the rim.
Head-to-head results this season have favoured Adelaide. The 36ers claimed their latest meeting against the Breakers 92-89 on 14 February in a tight contest. Both teams enjoy playing at a high tempo and scoring in transition, so expect an entertaining, up-tempo game.
The Breakers will bring plenty of fight as underdogs and should keep things competitive for long stretches. Adelaide’s greater consistency and experience, particularly in the closing stages, should prove the difference. The play is to take them to win by a small margin.
