India vs England

India will take the same side they’ve stuck with four four of their five games so far, the only time they made a change to that eleven was against South Africa, their only loss of the tournament. The Indians did have an injury scare with captain Rohit Sharma being hit on the forearm during a net session on Tuesday, however he’s expected to line up on Thursday night. Sharma and KL Rahul have struggled throughout the tournament, however with Virat Kohli (246 runs at an average of 123) and Suryakumar Yadav (225 runs at an average of 75), the Indians have continuously put up match winning scores.
India progressed through as the top team in Group 2, with four wins from their five Super 12 games. The Indians one blemish came against South Africa on a bouncy track in Perth, but outside of that game the Indians have looked like contenders for the entirety of the tournament so far.
Coming into this tournament, the biggest knock on India was their seam bowlers, and with Jasprit Bumrah missing through injury, it only further compounded those concerns. However India’s pace attack has been outstanding. Arshdeep Singh (10 wickets at an average of 14, with an economy of 7.83), Mohammed Shami (6 wickets at 17, economy of 6.11) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (4 wickets at 22, economy of 5.40).
England
Predicted XI: Jos Buttler, Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, Ben Stokes, Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood
With no injury concerns, England will come into the final with a settled eleven that has performed very well throughout the super 12’s. Sam Curran has been the star for England with 10 wickets at an average of 9.40, the second most wickets in the Super 12 stage. Curran will need to be at his best, especially against the in-form Virat Kohli, who did struggle against English left armers during India's white ball tour of England earlier in the year.
Highlighting England’s balance with the bat, they’ve had 4 different leading run scorers, from their 4 games this season. Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes have all stood up throughout the tournament, with England’s flexibility with the bat making them one of the most dangerous white ball sides in the world.
Much like India, there were questions around their bowling attack, however their English attack has risen to the occasion. Out of the seven bowlers that have bowled for England in this tournament, six have gone at an economy rate of seven or lower. Moen Ali (4.90), Ben Stokes (5.90), Sam Curran (6.40), Adil Rashid (6.56), Liam Livingstone (7.37) and (Mark Wood 7.71) have done an outstanding job containing opposing batting units at this tournament.
Betting Tips
This is going to an epic contest between the two best white ball sides in the world. Both sides have lost only once throughout the group stage, and played an entertaining three game series earlier in the year which India won 2-1. Both sides are incredibly versatile with both bat and ball, with very little separating these two sides.
India have a good recent record against England in T20I’s, winning nine of the last thirteen meetings between the two sides in this format. With the form of Kohli and Suryakumar, India are going to be tough to beat, and India have got scope to get even better if Sharma or Rahul can get a score. India have been ultra consistent this tournament, and will find their way into the big dance.
Suryakumar Yadav had exploded in 2022, as the leading run scorer in T20 internationals in the calendar year. Suryakumar has scored 1026 runs at an average of 44, with a whopping strike rate of 186. It’s incredibly rare to see this sort of production from a player batting outside of the top 3. He’s produced scores of 51*, 68, 30 and 61* in his last four knocks, and is primed to light up the big stage.
