Sunshine Coast Racing Tips: Saturday, January 27th 2024

Race 3: Coastline BMW 1x2 Plate C3 1000m - 2:23pm (AEDT)

(7) Party Spirit $3.00: she’s returned in great order this prep winning her first 3 runs in style. She broke her maiden in dominant fashion over this track/trip (big gaps behind) before repeating the dose second-up over this track/trip with 59.5kgs on her back. They sent her to Warwick over 1200m two-back where she had the run of the race before angling out and being too strong late. She then went to the Gold Coast in the MM Country Cup LS (staying at 1200m), and she was very good behind ZOUMETEOR (who led all the way). She draws an ideal gate to not use up too much petrol early and maps to sit OSL or right behind them (she’ll likely have a head-start on key rival ISLAND MAGIC who has missed the start its last two). Two-week freshen leading in, back to 1000m, great record at the track, and gets in well at the weights this scale. Keen.

(2) Orlabent $6.00/$2.00: $11 into $6 early and gets right back in grade here. Fitter third up and can play a role. Worth thought at an each way price.

(7) Party Spirit

$3.00 (2.5 Units)

Race 7: Coastline BMW X3 BM85 1800m - 4:52pm (AEDT)

(3) Aussie Nugget $6.50/$2.40: looks a nice e/w play in an open race. I concede he doesn’t win out of turn, but this looks a good setup for him. Two-back he was very good running second to INDIFFERENCE (since ran well) when he missed the bob of the head on the wire (big gap to third). He then went to Doomben LS in this grade over 1615m and was well supported (SP’d $3.75) but raced below his best (EAGLEMONT was a dominant winner). The stable advised they would seek to add a tongue tie next start as the horse presented like he had an upper respiratory issue (which they’ve done), so I’m happy to forgive. He’s won over 1800m before, draws a middle gate to settle midfield, and has the combination of Gollan and Thompson. He can hit back hard.

(2) Alycone $10.00/$3.00: 6YO who is capable of better and gets out to 1800m where he is proven. Fitter third up and looks value if he can run on.

(4) Star Of Michelin $19: Yet to win over the mile, but is only getting fitter and is overdue a win. Hard to have here, but could find his way into the exotics with some luck.

(3) Aussie Nugget E/W

$6.50/$2.40 (1U/1.5U)

Race 8: Coastline BMW Sunshine Coast Cup 1400m - 5:32pm (AEDT)

(6) Essonne $6.50/$2.50: another nice e/w chance in the feature race of the day. She began her preparation down I Victoria at Group 3 level before returning to Eagle Farm two-back over 1300m when she was a very good second behind CHATTY LADY (also here). She then went back to 1200m LS at the Gold Coast and was given an impossible task from well back in the field. She ended up following LADY LAGUNA (since won again) through on the fence and did her best work late (took a while to warm up). They sent her for a trial on 16 Jan and she won without being tested (it was nice work). I’m hoping they can settle a little closer from a nice draw today and get clear running turning for home. The extra furlong looks ideal for her now. she gets a little weight swing on CHATTY LADY from when they met two starts ago, and she’ll be hitting peak fitness. Go well.

(2) Ef Troop $15/$4.40: 8YO who has been far from disgraced in recent races against top horses. Draws well and gets ORMAN in the saddle. Roughie?

(3) Kinloch $3.90: Drifting fav in the early market, but cant knock him of his first up win where he flew from last to score. Can only be fitter off that.

(8) Wapiti $35/$8.50: Hasn’t won or shown best form for a while, but if he rocks up on race day he can cause a boil over. Watch the market.

(6) Essonne E/W

$6.50/$2.50 (1U/1.5U)
