Saturday racing in Sydney heads back to Rosehill with a cracking meeting taking place. There are ten races on the card with the San Domenico Stakes the highlight. The new-season 3 year olds get their chance to shine with Golden Slipper runner up Best of Bordeaux the early race favourite.
The track is currently rated a soft 6 but there are some showers around on Friday and on race day. I think at worst we will be on a soft 7 with a chance to improve across the meeting.

Rosehill Racing Tips: Saturday August 27th
Race 2
You don’t need me to tell you that (2) Frumos was a good thing licked last start but that was as bad a watch as you will see. Bowman rode for luck and unfortunately the gaps didn’t open and he had no where to go. Drawn out today she shouldn’t have that sort of problem and her wins leading into last start showed the turn of gears she possesses. Expect Bowman gets a back to follow here and the slight rise to 1500m suits. Handles all conditions and she should be winning this on her way to better races.
(5) Roots resumes with Jmac in the saddle and will have fans off that. She handles wet ground and has been tested in group one company before. She will get over further but can give this a shake first up.
(4) Hope In Your Heart was very unlucky first up and will strip fitter for that effort. Finished alongside Frumos there and they both had no room to move when the sprint went on. She’s a smart horse on her day and looks a backable enough price.
(8) Mystic Mermaid doesn’t know how to run a poor race and should get the gun run from the inside draw. Expect Berry positions her nicely behind the speed and she enjoys the sting out of the ground.

Race 5
(9) Old Flame resumes today and really liked what we saw from him in his first prep in Australia. Was a tough winner first up last time in work and has trialled well for his return. The fact they have brought him to Sydney tells me he must be working well at home. This is a big step up but I think he’s got plenty of progression to come with just seven starts to his name. Three wins over this trip and maps for all the favours in running.
(10) Grace And Harmony hit the line hard off the back of a slow tempo fresh. Will take plenty of improvement out of that run and her 2nd up record is good. She’ll enjoy rising to 1400m but the inside draw could prove a touch sticky.
(1) Angel Of Truth was 1L off Verry Elleegant last prep and obviously that form is pretty handy for a race like this. He generally does his best work early on in preps and will just have to cope with topweight today. Rain helps.
(6) Blaze A Trail is flying and will run his honest race once again. If the track is drying out then I think his chances improve.
(9) Old Flame

Race 8
Think (11) Conqueror gets a nice setup today off the back of a freshen up and a little drop back in trip. He won a very strong form race on debut and there was plenty to like about his return over 1400m last start. Back to 1300m looks a tick. Way down in the weights with the Wizard on board should see him with every chance to let rip over the top of them.
(3) Shalatin is still a maiden but was hot on the heels of some of the top line 2yos last prep. He has trialled well for a return and this is a winnable race if he has improved into this prep.
(6) Backrower was unlucky last start here over this trip when blocked for running at key stage. Will have race fitness on his side now and I doubt we have seen the best of him.
(8) Kibou was tough up on speed and wide when finishing fourth fresh. That was a strong race and this probably looks a touch easier. Had been in flying form leading up to that since being gelded.
(4) Lethal Thoughts is lightly raced and wouldn’t shock to see the stable turn him into a black-type horse this prep.
(11) Conqueror

Race 9
The highlight on the card sees a strong field of 3 year olds go head to head in the G3 San Domenico Stakes.
(1) Best Of Bordeaux resumes and showed plenty of promise last prep as a 2yo. Won two impressively to start his career before finishing 2nd to Fireburn in the Golden Slipper. Clearly is a serious racehorse and has been trialling well for his return. McDonald has been riding him in the trials and he takes the ride on raceday which is encouraging. Hoping he doesn’t have to work too hard to find the lead and from there he will take some running down.
(6) Sebonack can improve off the fresh run if the track has dried out. He looks a big price all things considering and actually recorded the race-fastest L200m when first up. I’ve always had an opinion of him and think a dry track might see him show his best.
(7) Zoukerino has done nothing wrong in his career so far and it was a super win last start in the Rosebud. He rose straight out of maiden grade for that which is clearly some sort of feat. With that run under the belt he can improve again.
(5) Nettuno has been flying up in QLD and there are plenty of wraps on him. He brings a perfect 3/3 record down to Sydney and the stable generally don’t miss when they travel. He has the speed to lead and drawn well will see him flying up front.
(9) Spacewalk threw the Rosebud away fresh when laying in badly. If he can fix his racing manners up then no doubt he comes into the numbers.

Race 10
(8) Shades Of Rose is fast becoming a very nice horse and has been doing it easy at her last couple. He's been the punters pal at his last two races and if you take out the run where she bucked the jockey her record is very nearly faultless. McDonald has taken over since and has worked her out. She can probably take a sit today and expect this looks another nice step up as she makes her way through the grades. She has been placed tp perfection by the stable so far and I like that they are taking their time with her. She’s ready for 1200m now following three runs at 1100 this prep.
(3) Maotai showed some versatility first up when taking a sit and drastically improved his racing manners from when we last saw him. He has all the talent in the world and if they have now worked him out he will be a big threat.
Up to 1200m now looks the key to (7) Hellfest and it was a nice return from her down in melbourne. The track will have dried out by this stage (hopefully) and that should bring her right into calculations.
(5) Zoushack can fill a placing first up. Will have some work to do from the barrier but with any luck he could give them something to run down.
