Mornington Racing Tips – Wednesday, May 31st 2023

Race 2: Highview Speedboat Bill Handicap - 1pm (AEST)

(2) Lady Court for Peter Moody and Billy Egan won well at Hillside last time on a Heavy 9 and there is no reason why she can’t do it again here. She was on pace and too strong late for her rivals and from barrier 8, Egan will come across again. At Ballarat on April 5 she was 2nd (beaten a head) and probably should have won that too. The extra 200m should hold no issues and she does actually lose half a kilo in this.

(1) Flash Mary is another who will be up there early and will find this race a little bit easier than last time. Handles the Soft and will be better for seeing Hillside for the second time.

(4) Hollywood Siren has won and placed in her 2 starts on the Soft and she was also a winner here last prep. Getting fitter but this is her toughest assignment yet.

(5) Alors Tu Crois is fit and in fine form. Did win a trial on the Soft and a placing won’t surprise.

(2) Lady Court - WIN

$3 (2 Units)

Race 3: Neds Two Sugars Handicap - 1:35pm (AEST)

(3) Seonee was poor last start when 8th at Hillside but that was in a harder race than this. He is back to the 1200m and he has placed over this distance twice previously and Billy Egan does know this horse well. He might get run off his feet early but will settle midfield and will be strong late.

(1) Rainbiel has won her last 2 jumpouts on the Heavy and has to be a big place chance here. Others are fitter but her first up record is very good.

(2) Ocean’s Jen didn’t jump out well last week but is in a leading stable and she has won over 1200m before.

(4) Asymmetrical has run 2nd in two recent jumpouts and will be fit enough here. Last run was a 14th in a Group3 race at Flemington.

(3) Seonne - E/W

$6/$2.10 (2 Units)

Race 4: Highview Ghost Party Handicap – 2:10pm (AEST)

(3) Ferlazzo will find this race a little easier compared to her Flemington 5th where she probably did get a bit too far back on that occasion. Although she has to carry an extra 3.5kg in this one, she has Damien Oliver on again and he has won on her before. She’s fitter for 3 runs in but does enjoy a Soft track. From barrier 6 she will get back again but will try and sit a little closer, maybe a touch worse than midfield this time.

(4) Perfect Ending was unlucky last time and she did win well at Geelong before that run. She may settle just in front of Ferlazzo early.

(6) Regal Vow was a 1.75L Geelong winner last time but this is harder. Jack Hill stays on which is a plus.

(8) Pasheona is very consistent and could place again here after winning at Kilmore on a Heavy8 last start. She has barrier 2 and she should get a cozy run.

(3) Ferlazzo - WIN

$3.60 (2 Units)

Race 6: Highview Gunnamatta Handicap - 3:20pm (AEST)

(1) Aesop is second up for Phillip Stokes and he should appreciate an easier race here after bumping into Altivo and French Emperor last time (8th). He was 14th at the 400m last start and did make up many lengths and he is a second up winner previously. Has won 2 from 6 over the 2000m.

(2) Blazing Rebel is the likely fav and deserves to be on the back of an easy 5L Cranbourne win last start. This is a little harder and barrier 11 is a slight issue.

(3) Mr. Mooj is fitter again and can place at odds for the Laurie stable who are in good form in 2023. Has placed 2 from 3 starts over the 2000m.

(5) King Couver will be on speed and is a big chance if they go slow up front considering there are quite a few back markers in the race. First try over the distance.

(1) Aesop - WIN

$5.50 (2 Units)
