Flemington Racing Tips: Saturday June 3rd

June 2nd 2023, 6:07pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Flemington Racing Tips

Horse Racing returns to Flemington on Saturday as Victoria’s premier race track hosts a nine-race program. The first gets us underway at 11:50am, with the last set for 4:35. With winter hitting the country during the week, the weather looks okay (17) as runners prepare to race on a Soft 5 surface.

My best four bets for the day are below, and you can more expert selections for Saturday’s racing by heading over to our Racing Tips page.

Flemington Racing Tips – Saturday, June 3rd 2023

Race 2: Good Friday Appeal Plate - 12:25pm (AEST)

(2) Swords Drawn is fully fit now and that might count at the end in this race. He hit the line strongly last start and was very tough in the Warrnambool Cup when 3rd to Rolls. Handles all conditions and is very strong. A typical Moroney type.

(6) Hermann Hesse will have a couple of more runs before being put away for the Spring I suggest and this race looks ideal for him over the 2520m distance. He was slightly disappointing in the Andrew Ramsden but that race was harder and the stable didn’t expect him to run top 3. Here, he won’t want it any worse than a Soft5, so if it stays that way he is worth a shot at nice each-way odds. He will get back a bit but from barrier 2, he should get cover.

(3) D’aguilar is the likely fav and deserves to be after beating Melbourne Cup favourite, White Marlin at Pakenham last month. Has won 4 from 8 on the Soft!

(4) Rolls won the Warrnambool Cup for Maddi Raymond and then hand no luck last start.

(2) Swords Drawn - Win

$5 (2 Units)

Race 4: TAB ATA Trust Handicap - 1:35pm (AEST)

(9) Legio Ten sees Celine Gaudray riding for Team Cummings which will be a highlight for the young jock. The Exosphere gelding bolted in last start when he ran on strongly at Bendigo and you would think Flemington would suit his tactics. He likes the Soft ground and he loses weight for this.

(11) Taught You Could is fit now and almost got there at this track last time. Soft form is only fair but improvement is expected from the stable.

(12) Mambo Dancer won well on Soft ground at Cranbourne last start and the Moody/Meech combination is very good.

(5) Who Dares lost by half a length at this track last start and is fitter again for Pat Carey. Has only lost by a total of .7 of a length in his last three efforts.

(9) Legio Ten - WIN

$4 (2 Units)

Race 6: Herald Sun/Run for the Kids Quality - 2:45pm (AEST)

(4) Grey River has drawn well in 2 and is sure to attract a lot of support. She raises 200m in distance and 1400m is no issue as she has placed over this distance previously. Last start at Morphettville it took a smart one to beat her (Snapped) but she was making up good ground late. Blake Shinn takes the ride.

(7) Brung King is fast but is up in class here. He won well at Lakeside last start after coming from well back and he has won and placed on the Soft after 2 attempts. Gets a 2kg claim with Gaudray on top.

(8) Private Jumbo has drawn wide but does have talent. He had no luck when 2nd here over this track & distance and he is a big watch.

(11) Sweetened is another who has drawn wide and didn't get much luck last time when 7th here. Will be running on.

(4) Grey River - WIN

$3.40 (2 Units)

Race 8: VRC Community Plate - 4pm (AEST)

(3) Frankie Pinot ran on well last start at Morphettville despite being 9t beat 3.5L. That race was harder, and although Frankie would prefer a heavier track than this, he has drawn to run a good race here. He will settle midfield and put in a sustained run from the 400m. He likes this distance!

(2) Crosshaven is quality and is fully fit now. Is probably over the odds. Laura Lafferty takes the ride and she has run two 2nds on him previously.

(6) Its’sourtime won for us last time and can probably win again really. Likes this track but hasn't won over the distance yet.

(7) Jimmy The Bear is another chance but has drawn poorly in 16. If he drew closer to the rails he would definitely be in the top couple. Patrick Payne is training well and jockey Harry Coffey is riding well!

(3) Frankie Pinot - WIN

$5 (2 Units)
