And we are back in familiar territory this week! After a few weeks hiatus (life, seriously), we come back all guns blazing for the LCK Summer Split that’s kicking off again. After a really good strike rate last time, we return with high hopes, and a chance for even more value in the coming weeks. After watching SK Telecom T1 completely wipe the floor with everyone last time, expect them to keep every other team on their toes, as someone looks to topple the iron giants.
After a rather poor performance from JAG and LZ during last split, you can expect these teams to be ramping up their preparations to keep the dream alive. With both currently sitting in second place only a few weeks into the split, they already look a lot better and a lot more poised to pose a threat to the upper echelons. Keen an eye on LZ; after a couple of internal team changes, things are looking really good for them, and we hope this is the year they regain their old form again. Expect LZ to win this one 2-1, however I recommend taking a final map score of OVER 2.5 maps to be the best value one here.
For those new to this seasons LCK, Ever8 Winners will be an unknown one for you guys. After winning the lower-tiered Korean Championships, they qualified and took the place of Kongdoo Monster for this split. A team that is VERY much worth a look at, but don’t expect anything amazing here. SKT are untouchable, and even after all the pressure placed on them earlier in the year, they are just looking supremely comfortable, and should easily take this one out cleanly.
Surprisingly, this is the game I want to watch the most. ROX Tigers came back so nicely at the end of the split last time, yet still just don’t seem to have that confidence to them that we know and love. With them and BBQ Olivers both yet to win a game this split, this will either be the most boring game all year, or one of the most intense. I expect ROX Tigers to stare down the barrel of a gun, take the bullet in the mouth, and ram it back into bbq OLIVERS. While it’s the game i’m least confident on, it’s still one to look at, and a 2-0 for ROX is very possible here.
MVP WOOOOO!!!! My boys are back for another split, and looking damn good as usual. Sporting the same line-up they have for a couple of years now, they consistently show why they are deserving of one of the world’s top #10 teams. While they got knocked out cleanly by KT Rolster 3-0 in the last finals (take a bow KT, you pulled through), I don’t expect them to have the same troubles here. They’ve beaten KT during the split most times they’ve played, but if you’re unsure of them winning, again, this would be another great one to pick up for the OVER 2.5 maps.
And that’s all for the week folks. I apologise for the time off, again, life…. life… But we are back regularly now, and ready to follow another jam-packed season of eSports. Stay tuned for more, and as usual, happy punting!
