UFC Fight Night: Gane vs Tuivasa Betting Tips

August 30th 2022, 10:25pm, By: Ben Talintyre

UFC Fight Night Betting Tips

Two heavyweights take centre stage in this weekend’s Fight Night main event as Ciryl Gane looks to bounce back from his title fight loss when he faces Australia’s iconic knockout king Tai Tuivasa. In the co-main Robert Whittaker and Marvin Vettori face off and also on the main card Nasrat Haqparast meets John Makdessi in what is sure to be an entertaining encounter. We take a look at my three best bets on the Paris card below.

UFC Fight Night Betting Tips

Ciryl Gane vs. Tai Tuivasa

This is a massive step up in competition for Tai Tuivasa and sadly one I really don’t see the loveable Australian larrikin being able to make. Ciryl Gane was a perfect 10-0 until he lost his title fight with Francis Ngannou in January, in a fight he really should have won. Ngannou showed off his improved wrestling to muscle Gane to the ground and rack up the last three rounds to win by decision.

Tuivasa will be going into this fight with one route to victory, knocking out the Frenchman. Yet it is really hard to see Bam Bam getting close enough to knock out a man with a 13-0 Muay Thai record and one that easily avoided the strikes of Ngannou on the feet. Bon Gamin has too many weapons in his arsenal, and I am predicting he mixes in wrestling to finish Tuivasa on the ground at the halfway point.

Robert Whittaker vs. Marvin Vettori

Both these men are durable and hard to finish, and this is a fight I wish was over five rounds, but we will have to make do with three. Robert Whittaker I honestly thought won his last fight over the champion Israel Adesanya but regardless of what that fight showed is both Whittaker and Adesanya are clearly the top two in the division.

Marvin Vettori also lost his title shot to Adesanya and since that loss managed to bounce back grinding out Paulo Costa. I just think on the feet Whittaker’s movement will be too much for Vettori and while the Italian’s wrestling is quite strong his jiu jitsu is far from elite. In saying that I believe he will struggle to get this to the ground regardless and I see this fight going the distance. Whittaker is the side I am on as he has too many tools for Vettori and will outwork his foe on route to a decision victory.

Ailin Perez vs. Stephanie Eggar

Stephanie Egger put together back-to-back finish wins over Shanna Young and Jessica-Rose Clark before she was tapped early by Mayra Bueno Silva in controversial circumstances. She steps in here on nine days’ notice for Zarah Farim.

Her opponent Ailin Perez is frankly going to get dominated by Eggar’s judo game. Perez comes from fighting in the organisation ‘Samurai Fight House’ so it is safe to say this is a massive step up in competition. Add that to the fact she does her best work in the clinch, and it all looks set to fall perfectly for Eggar. Eggar hip tosses Perez to the mat and secures the tap quick, bouncing back from her loss last time out in dominant fashion.
