NFL 2018-19: Week 15 Preview & Betting Tips

December 12th 2018, 7:18pm, By: andyrosos

2-2 in NFL betting tips last week including one loss by just 0.5 points! The 2018-19 NFL season is fast approaching the business end and we continue our weekly betting tips as we take a look at some of the key matchups in Week 15 below!

NFL Betting Tips Week 15

Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs (Friday 12.20pm AEDT)

One of the games of the round in Week 15 sees two ACF juggernauts facing off on Thursday night (Friday AEDT) in the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs. The Chargers secured a five-point win over the Bengals at home in Week 14, making it three wins in a row since going down to the Broncos in Week 11. They currently sit just one game behind the Chiefs in the AFC West and can draw level with the division leaders this week.

The Chiefs looked extremely shaky against the Ravens on the weekend, trailing for the majority of the game before tying the game in the final quarter and securing the win in overtime. The Chiefs have wontheir last two games in a row since the Week 11 shootout loss to the Rams and can secure the division title with a win this Thursday.

Tough game to call here. Both teams are in extremely good form and have a storied history against each other. The Chiefs have won the last six games in a row against the Chargers at home and away scoring at least 30 points in four of those games. KC should be on for another big score here at home against an average Chargers defence

New England Patriots at Pittsburgh Steelers (Monday 8.25am AEDT)

Another big AFC clash headlines the Sunday slate as the New England Patriots head to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers. The Patriots suffered one of the more heartbreaking losses of the season on the weekend, going down to the Dolphins on a last-ditch desperate play which included laterals to win the game with no time left on the clock. Luckily, the Pats still maintain a two-game advantage in the AFC East, but will now likely be fighting the Texans for a home playoff game over the last three games.

It might be a lucky time to be facing the Steelers at the moment, as they had arguably their worst performance of the year in Week 14, going down to the Raiders in Oakland by three points. The Steelers are lucky to find themselves in the AFC North, where a 7-5-1 record is currently good enough to be leading the division. However, a tough run home which includes games against the Pats, Saints and Bengals could see them bounced from playoff contention.

To say that the Patriots have had the wood over the Steelers in recent times would be an understatement. The Pats have won their last four games in a row against the Steelers and Tom Brady holds an 8-2 record overall against Pittsburgh through 10 games. Brady’s QB rating of 111.8 against the Steelers is the second highest tally against all opponents behind only the Atlanta Falcons. Brady should be fired up after a disappointing loss to the Dolphins. We like the Pats away from home here.

New England -1.5

Philadelphia Eagles at Los Angeles Rams (Monday 12.20pm AEDT)

With a tough loss to the Bear on the weekend, the Rams lost their number one seed in the NFC. They will be desperate to win out here in an attempt to gain back the one seed and the home advantage throughout the conference playoffs. The Rams put up just six points in the loss to the Bears on the weekend, making it the first game all season that they have scored under 20 points.

The Eagles looked on track to make a push for the NFC East title but after a 28-23 loss to the Cowboys on the weekend now sit two games behind their division counterparts with just three games to play. Carson Wentz was respectable in the loss, throwing 228 passing yards and three touchdowns but the Eagles offence has been below average all season.

The Rams need a bounce back game here and a matchup against the Eagles at home seems like the perfect scenarioPhiladelphia allowed 48 points to the Saints in New Orleans just a few weeks ago, which is a similarly dynamic offence to that of the Rams. I see an easy win for LA at home here.

Rams -8.5

New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers (Tuesday 12.15pm AEDT)

Although their offence wasn’t firing on all cylinders, the Saints secured a 14-point win on the road against the Buccaneers in Week 14 to claim the top spot in the NFC. New Orleans restricted Tampa Bay to just 279 total passing yards and 14 points in the win.. They’ll be on the road again in Week 15, travelling to Charlotte to take on the Carolina Panthers in a divisional matchup.

The Panthers currently have a 6-7 record and will likely need to win all three of their remaining games to have a chance at one of the two NFC Wildcard spots. They were looking a lock to secure one of the spots or even challenge for the division after starting the season 6-2, they have since lost their last five games though, scoring over 21 points on just one occasion.

The Saints should win this game given the form they have been in this season but we just think six points is a little too much on the road. Over their last four losses, the Panthers average losing margin has been just 4.25 points. We think they cover in a must win game at home.
