The rail is out 3m for the entirety and selections are for a SOFT/HEAVY track with some showers leading in and potentially on race day. If we see Heavy conditions, it will make for an interesting day.  watch and monitor if possible.

Royal Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, October 17th 2026

Race 1 – Big Dance Wild Card Hcp - 1600m (12:30pm AEDT)

(1) Tavi Time – 7YO Gelding who boasts a handy record with a 30% strike rate, but he has been far from his best in recent times. Resumed over 1500m at Group 3 level first up and finished midfield when running on. Draws nicely for this and will be every chance in running. If the track is a soft he looks to be on top, but with the expected heavy, maybe it’ll be a touch too wet. Chance

(5) You Wahng – 5YO Mare who is yet to run the drum over the mile from four starts, but maps nicely and will be stripping fitter second up. Each way chance.

(6) Matias – 4YO gelding who looks to still have some upside and will be stripping fitter for this second up run. Loves this track, draws pole position and looks a nice race for him. Happy to be on for this.

(6) Matias - WIN

$2.50 (3.5 Units)

Race 2 – Bisley Workwear Reginald Allen Qlty – 1400m – GROUP 3 (1:05pm AEDT)

(1) Calamari Ring – 3YO Filly who has been sound in all her three runs back and that includes 2 x Group 3s. Rises in trip now and is rock hard fit. Draws well and can handle the wet. On top.

(4) Saffron Veil – 3YO Filly who has made a good Impression with two narrow seconds before breaking maiden last start over 1250m. Hard fit, rises in trip and J-Mac sticks. Has to be considered.

BET: NO BET

Race 3 – Asahi Super Dry Angst Stakes – 1600m – GROUP 3 (1:40pm AEDT)

(4) Vivy Air –  6YO Mare who hasn’t won for a while but has continued to hit the line nicely. Dual accepter for this and in race 1, but this race looks a more winnable affair. Draws well and has a handy record at this track. J-Mac steers and can handle the wet. If she doesn’t require too much luck in running, she can win this.

(7) Polymnia – 5YO Mare who is very honest but just finds it hard to win. Her first and second up runs have been good, and she looks primed now for this third up run. Third up record is sound, and her sole career win comes when third up. Maps fairly and gets a 3kg weight swing in her favour on UNLEESHING who beat her by half a length last start. Happy to have a play.

(8) Unleeshing – 5YO Mare who has been racing well with 2 x seconds and then broke through last start for much deserved win. Loves this track, hard fit fourth up and handles all conditions. The one to beat.

(7) Polymnia - WIN

$5.00 (1.5 Units)

Race 4 – The Agency Real Estate St Leger Stakes – 2600m – GROUP 3 (2:15pm AEDT)

(1) Juja Kibo – 6YO gelding who has been ticking along nicely and absolutely bolted in over 2400m last start at Group 2 level. Drops to Group 3 now and gets another 200m added to the trip. Genuine wet tracker and looks awfully hard to beat. On top.

(11) Wuddzz – 9YO Gelding who has had his races evenly spaced of late and with the heavy conditions expected her com es right into this as a huge blow out hope. Top jockey of Chad Schofield gets into the saddle and with a good record at this track he looks a genuine each way blow out hope. Needs to be heavy though.

Also Backing: (11) Wuddzz - WIN $51 (0.5 Units)

(1) Juja Kibo - WIN

$3.10 (2 Units)

Race 5 – The Kosciuszko - 1200m – FEATURE (2:50pm AEDT)

(2) Chidiac – 6YO Mare who had a handy campaign last time in with three wins and then had an end of prep run before being tipped out. Trialled well leading into this and gets J-Mac into the saddle. 53% strike rate and at the current quote looks a nice each way play.

(3) Gallant Star – 7YO Gelding who was far from his best last campaign, but his best is definitely good enough for this. Drawn well and Sam Clipperton has a good relationship with him. Drawn well and goes well fresh and at this track. Roughie play.

(3) Gallant Star - E/W

$12/$3.60 (1U/2U)

Race 6 – Toyota Forklifts Sydney Stakes - 1200m – GROUP 2 (3:25pm AEDT)

(1) Overpass – 8YO Gelding who is one of the best sprinters Aus has had, but he is getting older now and is return off a stint in the UK. He has trialled very well leading into this and he is also an emergency for the Everest. Very good fresh and has a good record on the soft, but is unplaced when racing on a heavy deck. Draws wide, but maps to be able to cross early and dictate to his liking. Worth thought.

(10) Wanaruah – 5YO who has been racing well and gets his chance now at Black type racing. Caught wide first up and proved costly before sticking on gamely to win over this trip last start at nice odds. Maps to lead with Overpass and can make his own luck up on the speed. Hard fit third up and proven wet tracker. Worth a play.

BET: NO BET

Race 7 – The TAB Everest – 1200m – GROUP 1 (4:15pm AEDT)

(1) Ka Ying Rising – 6YO gelding who has an outstanding record with 24 starts for 22 wins and 2 seconds. He is the absolute king of sprint racing and is the one they all have to beat. He continues to break records and make it look so easy in doing so. Only query he has for this affair is the expected heavy conditions, but his class should just prevail. Anything over $1.60-70 is worth a play.

(6) Headwall – 7YO gelding who is a talented sprinter and has had minimal luck this time in. Arguable should’ve beaten TEMPTED first up. Loves this track and unbeaten on the heavy track. Will be getting a tow into the race and will be hitting the line hard. At the current quote he is worth an each way play.

(8) Joliestar – 6YO Mare who has kind of gone under the radar this year with not a real lot of media coverage or being a talking point in this years Everest. She was excellent last campaign and was good first up in the Shorts finishing second. Draws well for this, strips fitter and handles the conditions. J-Mac steers and will be in the finish.

(8) Joliestar - E/W

$16/$2.75 (0.5U/2.5U)

Race 8 – Silver Eagle – 1300m – LISTED (4:50pm AEDT)

(1) Beiwacht – 4YO who was dominant first up over 1400m winning by 3L. Dropped to 1200m in the Manikato and didn’t get the right run. Draws pole here and should be able to dictate out in front on his terms. Rates highly and is the one to beat. On top.

(3) Skyhook – 4YO who continues to race well and has notched up two back to back wins this prep with them both being easy watches. Gets the conditions to suit and will be looking to keep things going.

(1) Beiwacht - WIN

$3.20 (2.5 Units)

Race 9 – King Charles III Stakes – 1609m – GROUP 1 (5:35pm AEDT)

(1) Ceolwulf – 6YO gelding who has won this the two previous years and looks to be going just as good. Sound in the Group 1 Epsom last start with top weight. Draws well and has been well supported in the early market. Worth thought.

(5) Autumn Glow – 5YO Mare who is a very talented horse with 13 wins from 14 races. Proven on all conditions and is 3 from 3 over the mile. Drawn well and is clearly the one they all need to beat. Probably just wins, but not keen on diving in at $1.40.

BET: NO BET

Race 10 – The Hong Kong Jockey Club – 1400m – BM88 (2:15pm AEDT)

(3) Cross Tasman – 5YO Gelding who is a very genuine type with only missing the placings once from 11 career starts. Second in his last four runs but peaking now third up and is a proven wet tracker previously. Sticky gate, but with some luck should be hitting the line strongly.

(5) Tavros – Resuming 6YO gelding who has trialed leading into this and has a good record over 1400m.  Prefer him on the dry but has won on a wet track previously. Capable of a big race. One to watch.

(3) Cross Tasman - WIN

$2.70 (3 Units)
