NRLW Round 10 Preview & Betting Tips
New Zealand Warriors vs Cronulla Sharks
Go Media Stadium – Saturday 5th September – 12:45pm (AEST)
The Warriors were upset at home last week by the Dragons 22-18, failing to gather enough momentum across the match to shut the door on their opponents. It was a disappointing outcome as they dominate most areas statistically. With an equal share of possession, they completed at 73%, ran for 8.4m per carry, had 430 PCM’s, and 6 line breaks. When it mattered though, they couldn’t convert this into points and gave their opponents several opportunities to score. The Sharks abysmal season has gone from bad to worse, suffering a 36-8 defeat to the Roosters. With their opponents barely getting out of second gear, the Sharks had a strong completion rate (87%) but could only manage 6.9m per carry. Their defence was worse, as they missed 30 tackles and conceded 10 line breaks.
There is only one possible outcome to this game and that is a Warriors victory. With the game played in New Zealand, the home team will be desperate to bounce back to form. The Sharks are lacking quality and are low on confidence. The decision comes down to how much the home team can win by. Form this season suggests that the Sharks defence will continue to leak points (26ppg) and struggle to score them, as their opponents continue to pull away.
North Queensland Cowboys vs Sydney Roosters
Queensland Country Bank Stadium – Saturday 5th September – 3:15pm (AEST)
The Cowboys were given a reality check in their 40-6 home loss to the Knights, outplayed by a team which was more consistent throughout the contest. Limited to just 40% possession, they completed at 81% and ran for 8.9m per carry. That wasn’t converted into points for them and their poor defensive structure – missing 32 tackles and conceding 13 line breaks – hurt them dearly. The Roosters kept their undefeated season going with a comprehensive 36-8 victory over the Sharks. Never getting out of second gear, the Roosters overcame a horror 63% completion rate by running for 10.1m per carry and having 10 line breaks. Their defence was again strong, missing just 23 tackles.
Much like a few other games this weekend, there is only one likely outcome in this contest. The Roosters are superior in all areas and, if the Cowboys are not careful, they will be quickly behind in this contest. Thankfully, the Roosters have a tend to relax in matches. Nevertheless, with the Finals just around the corner, there is a perfect opportunity to make another strong statement with a commanding win. The season averages suggest that the line which is offered is slightly too low and the Cowboys should be able to cover it.
Newcastle Knights vs Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
McDonald Jones Stadium – Saturday 5th September – 5:15pm (AEST)
The Knights delivered a strong statement that they are hitting form at the right time with a 40-6 road victory over the Cowboys. They were a class above their opponents as they dominated possession (60%) and completed well (78%). This allowed them to average 10m per carry, make 610 PCM’s, and create 13 line breaks. Their defence was also strong, missing just 16 tackles. The Bulldogs were on the receiving end of a 44-14 road defeat to the Tigers, accurately summing up their performances for majority of the 2026 season. They were their own worst enemy with a 70% completion rate, meaning they could do little with their 9.3m per carry. Their defence was unstructured also, missing 39 tackles and conceding 10 line breaks.
With the Bulldogs struggling and limping towards the end of the season, another tough task is ahead of them in this contest. The Knights are gaining in confidence and last week’s performance demonstrated this in several areas. Their attack is one of the most dangerous in the competition; many continue to doubt their credentials heading into the Finals, but they are a team which cannot be underestimated. They will not only capture victory but score enough points and be resolute in defence to ensure the line is covered.
St George-Illawarra Dragons vs Brisbane Broncos
WIN Stadium – Sunday 6th September – 11:50am (AEST)
The Dragons captured a spirited 22-18 road victory over the Warriors, showing plenty of fight that had previously been absent earlier in the season. With an equal share of possession, they completed at 70%, made 8.2m per carry, and had 6 line breaks. They were strong defensively also, shutting down numerous attacking opportunities their opponents had. The Broncos broke a 3-game losing streak with a comprehensive 44-10 road victory over the Eels. The 8-try victory was set up in the first half as they lead 34-nil at HT. They were clinical in attack, completing at 77% with 52% possession. This saw them run for 9.7m per carry, make 536 PCM’s, and have 17 line breaks. The challenge for them is to now find consistency.
Despite their success last week, the Dragons have a strong challenge to overcome if they’re to change the expected course of this match. Unfortunately, the only like outcome appears to be a dominant Broncos victory. The odds reflect this and with their attacking power in the backline supported by the strong forwards, they should be too strong. The return of Brigginshaw offers stability and direction which was previously lacking. It is unusual to see large, blowout victories in this form of the game but the line has been set too low in this game and should see the Broncos easily account for it.
Wests Tigers vs Gold Coast Titans
Campbelltown Sports Stadium – Sunday 6th September – 1:45pm (AEST)
The Tigers captured another victory with a commanding 44-14 performance at home over the Bulldogs. Dominant in attack, they controlled possession (54%) and had a great completion rate (85%). This allowed them to run for 9.2m per carry, make 591 PCM’s, and create 10 line breaks. The Titans were victorious at home 26-20 over the Raiders in a thrilling contest. Late tries to their opponents narrowed the margin and understated the dominance of the home team. With an equal share of possession, they completed at 75%, ran for 9.8m per carry, and made 9 line breaks. They were strong defensively too, missing just 18 tackles.
There is no doubt that this is the ‘game of the round’ this weekend. Despite the positive run of form for the Tigers, they have been listed as large outsiders for this match. The Titans are a quality team, but the home side has been undervalued with their potential to cause an upset overlooked. This game will be closer than expected. The Tigers are gaining in confidence and are aware of the significance of this game. It will be a grind to win this contest though; the battle of the forward packs appears to be even, with the task of winning resting on whether the Tigers can shut down the dynamic backline that the Titans possess. This should ensure the line is not covered, with the winner only likely to emerge late in this contest.
Canberra Raiders vs Parramatta Eels
GIO Stadium – Sunday 6th September – 6:15pm (AEST)
The Raiders were defeated 26-20 on the road by the Titans, managing to score a few late tries to flatter them on the score board. In reality, their opponents dominated the contest. The Raiders only have themselves to blame too as they made just 2 line breaks, missed 37 tackles, and trailed their opponents in metres made. The Eels were comprehensively defeated at home 44-10 by the Broncos, bearing the brunt of a team that rediscovered their confidence. They game was all but over at HT as they trailed 34-0. They made just 7.6m per carry, and had 3 line breaks, will allowing 17 line breaks and missing 35 tackles.
The only likely outcome in this game is a victory to the Raiders. They will want to bounce back to winning form ahead of the Finals and are given a great opportunity at home to achieve that. Despite losing, their attack was strong last week. To break down their opponents like they did highlights a strength to gain momentum and convert that into points. This should cause the Eels plenty of issues and should ensure that the line is covered comfortably by the home side.
