2026 US Open: WTA Betting Tips - Arango vs Wang
Approx 3am Monday AEST
Although there are some bigger names on the card for Day 1 of the 2026 US Open, I have taken a look to the outer courts where I have found some value in a game handicap bet.
2026 hasn’t been her strongest year by any stretch, but I do see a bit of value in Wang Xinyu in this particular clash. Wang comes in here with a win/loss record that perhaps isn’t the strongest you have ever seen, but that is partly to do with coming up against some players who were in some decent form at the time. Going back to Bad Homburg on the grass and it has been Osaka, Bencic, Samsonova, Kasatkina (just), and Sabalenka that have defeated the world number 43. During that time though, Wang has notched some solid wins as well, mainly in match-ups where she isn’t overpowered.
That will be the case here today as she takes on 84th ranked Colombian Emiliana Arango. Arango is capable of putting together some solid weeks at WTA level across the course of a tennis season, but her results generally come in conditions that are more favourable, such as at high altitudes. She doesn’t get that today, and I think even in some of the slower conditions we have seen across surfaces in the last couple of months, there is not a lot there that gives me cause for great concern to be honest.
There are a couple of ways to play this bet, but I have sided with the game handicap. If there is to be a one-sided set, I feel that is more likely to occur in favour of Wang rather than Arango. Arango is an honest performer, but given the form of both, and the conditions on Day 1 at Flushing Meadows, it is Wang at the handicap for me.
