Wednesday Horse Racing Tips: July 1st 2026

June 30th 2026, 3:13pm, By: Trent Orwin

Sandown Racing Tips

Wednesday horse racing sees five meetings held across the country. Our metro racing focus will be on Randwick-Kensington, Sandown-Lakeside and Belmont. Here’s our four best bets for Wednesday’s racing. Best of luck to everyone following along!

Randwick-Kensington Racing Tips: Wednesday, July 1st

Race 2: TAB Plate 1150m – 1:25pm AEST

(10) Ready Forcocktails resumed with a second placing as favourite Celestial Charm proved much too good. She finished almost three lengths ahead of her next rival. I am expecting the filly to land somewhere on the speed from her middle gate. As long as she handles a heavy track, she looks to have strong claims to break her maiden at start number four.

(6) Claudel has been runner up in both runs for trainer Chris Waller. She will have to overcome the widest barrier, but she has good, sustained speed, and the heavy track won’t bother her at all. Looks a huge threat in this race.

(3) Pharland has early speed and should land in the first two in running. He finished second on debut at Gosford after some interference in the race. With natural improvement and a favourable map, he should have each-way claims.

(10) Ready Forcocktails WIN

$3.10 (2 Units)

Sandown-Lakeside Racing Tips: Wednesday, July 1st

Race 3: Sportsbet Race Replays Handicap 1600m – 1:35pm AEST

(3) Geffina is racing in tremendous fashion with two wins and as many seconds from her past four starts for trainer Aaron Purcell. Her local track victory at Warrnambool was a brilliant ride as she was last in the run and saved ground to quickly move near the front of the field. She almost defied market expectations last start when second at Swan Hill at $21. Let’s hope she can defy them again at each-way odds.

(8) Stupendous was an eye-catching return into fifth place, beaten just 1.1 lengths. The step up to the mile looks good as she has won once and been runner up twice from six attempts. She also runs well second-up from a spell and Craig Williams has been booked. Ticks a lot of boxes here.

(4) Perfect Ten is enjoying this campaign with the mare winning two of three runs this time in. Like Geffina, the apprentice jockey helps as Logan Bates will claim 1.5kg. She should map well in the race and has solid claims.

(3) Geffina E/W

$14/$3.80 (1U/1U)

Race 4: Evergreen Turf Handicap 2400m – 2:10pm AEST

(9) Empress Of The Sun won well at this circuit last time when beating five rivals by two lengths. She doesn’t mind a wet track so Melbourne’s constant rain this week will not hurt her chances. Apprentice hoop Jabez Johnstone can roll forward on the mare and she may sit outside the leader or try to find the trail. With her current form on heavy tracks, she should go close again.

(10) Shultzy is a last start winner at Geelong over 2440m on a Heavy 9 circuit. He rises in grade but will carry just 56kg. The question will be how far back in the run the gelding ends up from barrier two.  He has each-way claims at odds.

(7) Nearco Frod sees Craig Williams pick up the ride which is a huge positive. The lightly raced four-year-old has been ticking along nicely this campaign over 2000m and now jumps up to the 2400m. Looks a big danger in the race.

(9) Empress Of The Sun WIN

$3.50 (2 Units)

Belmont Racing Tips: Wednesday, July 1st

Race 2: Drummond Golf Maiden 1000m – 1:39pm (3:39pm AEST)

(1) Sunset Session is knocking on the door to break his maiden with five career starts producing three runner-up performances. The latest, which was his first-up run this prep, saw him run home well from the tail of the field to finish second. He did hit the front in the home straight but couldn’t repel Tidwell. With that run under the belt, the gelding looks hard to beat.

(4) Deepest Desire looks a serious threat as he resumes after two races in his opening campaign. He won a trial leading into this and gets William Pike for the first time. This should be a good clash with the favourite as they draw alongside one another.

(3) Energetic is another runner resuming from a spell. He has had two trials in preparation for this, the latest saw him let down well close to home. He has knockout claims here.

(1) Sunset Session WIN

$2.30 (3 Units)
