The Masters 2026 Preview & Betting Tips

April 7th 2026, 7:42pm, By: Andy Rosos

The PGA TOUR season hits its most iconic stop as the world’s best arrive at Augusta National Golf Club for the 90th edition of The Masters Tournament. It’s the week where form, history and nerve collide, and where every player in the field knows exactly what’s on the line.

There’s a different narrative surrounding Rory McIlroy this time around. The burden of chasing the career Grand Slam is gone after last year’s breakthrough victory, and he now returns as defending champion with a chance to join rare company. That freedom could prove dangerous if he finds his rhythm early.

The Masters Betting Tips

Augusta National, Thursday 9 - Sunday 12 April

The Field

As always, the Masters field is stacked with elite talent, headlined by Scottie Scheffler, who returns after a short break and still stands as the most consistent force in the game. A two-time winner at Augusta in recent years, his ability to control the golf ball into these greens makes him a constant threat.

A strong group of contenders arrives in form, including Cameron Young and Matt Fitzpatrick, who both impressed throughout the Florida swing. Collin Morikawa is harder to gauge after his disrupted lead-in, but his iron play alone gives him a high ceiling at a course that rewards precision.

There’s also intrigue around the next wave, with names like Chris Gotterup and Jacob Bridgeman making their mark this season. Augusta, however, has a long history of exposing inexperience, and learning that lesson often comes the hard way.

The Course

Augusta National remains one of the most demanding and nuanced tests in golf. At over 7,500 yards, it requires length, but more importantly, it demands control with approach play into some of the most complex greens in the world.

The subtle adjustment to the 17th hole adds another layer, but the identity of the course remains unchanged. This is a second-shot layout where angles, spin control and distance management are critical to scoring.

The closing stretch continues to define the tournament. From the volatility of Amen Corner to the risk-reward opportunities late, Augusta forces players to make decisions under extreme pressure, and those decisions often determine who slips on the green jacket.

Top Picks

Tommy Fleetwood has already answered one major question by winning on TOUR, but a major title still feels within reach. His record at Augusta is quietly excellent, highlighted by a T3 and consistent performances. His balanced game and temperament make him an ideal fit for this course, and he arrives in strong enough form to contend deep into the weekend.

Ludvig Aberg's start to life at Augusta has been exceptional. A runner-up finish on debut followed by another top-10 shows just how comfortable he is on this stage. With elite ball-striking and composure well beyond his years, he looks ready to take the next step and challenge for a major title.

Value Picks

Patrick Reed’s record at Augusta since his 2018 win speaks for itself. He consistently finds a way onto the leaderboard and understands how to manage the course better than most. Experience is invaluable here, and he has plenty of it.

Hovland’s ball-striking makes him a natural contender at Augusta. If his short game holds up under pressure, he has the tools to make a serious run. He feels close to a breakthrough performance at this level.

Viktor Hovland
