The NBA rolls on with another solid midweek card for us Aussies on Wednesday April 8, 2026 (AEST). Games tip off from 10:10 am, so here are three matchups that look like theyve got some real betting edge based on how the teams have been tracking lately, current standings, ATS numbers and the latest injury news.

NBA Betting Tips: Wednesday, April 8th 2026
Charlotte Hornets at Boston Celtics (10:10 am AEST)
The Hornets head to TD Garden as decent underdogs and they have been one of the hotter teams in the East lately, winning most of their last stretch with some impressive results against a mix of opponents. They sit at 43-36 overall and own a strong 50-29 ATS record, especially when they get to play up-tempo against teams that like to push the pace.
Boston sits at 53-25 and has been steady at home, picking up wins in most of their recent outings while showing good defensive structure. They carry a solid 46-32 ATS mark but have had a couple of off nights against motivated visitors. No major injury concerns for the Celtics other than JT.
This one feels like it could be competitive early, but Bostons home edge and the Hornets recent road form against top sides make the Celtics the safer pick. The -5.5 line gives them enough breathing room to cover in what should be a controlled win.
Boston Celtics -5.5

Oklahoma City Thunder at Los Angeles Lakers (12:40 pm AEST)
The Thunder roll into LA as massive favourites and they have been absolutely rolling, winning the vast majority of their recent games while looking like the best team in the league on both ends of the floor. They sit at 62-16 overall with a 37-41 ATS record that has been a bit streaky, but they dominate matchups like this when the opponent is banged up.
The Lakers are at 50-28 and have shown some fight lately, but they are dealing with a heap of injury issues. LeBron James is questionable, Luka Doncic is out, Austin Reaves is out and Marcus Smart is out. That leaves them really thin, especially against a team like OKC. Their ATS mark sits at 42-36 but they have struggled in spots with key pieces missing.
OKC should be able to dictate the tempo and pull away without too much drama. The -16.5 spread is large, but the Thunders current dominance and the Lakers depleted roster make it a strong play to cover.
Oklahoma City Thunder -16.5

Houston Rockets at Phoenix Suns (1:10 pm AEST)
Houston heads to Phoenix as narrow favourites in what looks like a tight, even matchup. The Rockets sit at 49-29 and have been in good form lately, winning most of their recent games with solid defence and efficient scoring, though their 33-45 ATS record shows they have dropped a few covers against quality Western sides.
Phoenix is at 43-35 and has been competitive at home, picking up wins in several of their last outings while relying on their pace and shooting. They carry a strong 46-32 ATS mark and have been reliable when playing at home against teams around their level. No major new injuries flagged for either side beyond normal rest.
This projects as a back-and-forth battle with the total at 220.5. Houston brings a touch more consistency right now and the small spread gives them some value on the road. I lean the Rockets to grind it out and cover the -1.0 in a close one.
Houston Rockets -1.0
