PGA Tour Valero Texas Open Betting Tips

TPC San Antonio, Thursday 2 - Sunday 5 April

The Field

The Valero Texas Open field blends top-tier talent with players chasing one last opportunity to secure a Masters berth. Fleetwood headlines the group, while Robert MacIntyre, Russell Henley, Sepp Straka and Ludvig Åberg add depth at the top end. Åberg, in particular, will be looking to rebound after a mixed showing at THE PLAYERS.

Brian Harman returns as defending champion, while Gary Woodland arrives with momentum after his emotional victory in Houston, which secured his Masters spot. Others will be hoping to follow that same path this week, with the final invitation to Augusta on the line for the winner.

The Aon Swing 5 race also adds another layer of intrigue, with several players – including Chandler Blanchet and Sudarshan Yellamaraju – looking to secure their place in the next Signature Event. With so much at stake, expect a highly competitive and unpredictable leaderboard.

The Course

TPC San Antonio (Oaks Course) is one of the more demanding layouts on the PGA Tour, particularly when the Texas winds arrive. The par-72 track stretches to nearly 7,500 yards and places a premium on ball-striking, positioning and patience.

Firm conditions and swirling winds often make scoring difficult, with players needing to carefully manage trajectory and spin. Fairways are generous in places, but approach shots are where the real challenge lies, with firm greens and tricky surrounds punishing imprecision.

The course has a history of producing grinding contests rather than birdie-fests, with winning scores often dictated by the conditions. Players who can stay disciplined, avoid big numbers and handle the wind will have the best chance to contend. With the Masters looming, this week presents one final, demanding test before the season’s first major.

Top Picks

Tommy Fleetwood enters as the class of the field and arguably the most reliable player teeing it up this week. The Englishman has quietly built a strong 2026 campaign with three top-10 finishes in his last four starts and continues to showcase one of the most balanced games on Tour. He finished T7 here on debut in 2024, proving he can handle the demands of TPC San Antonio, and returns for a third straight appearance with growing comfort. With his ability to control ball flight and stay composed in windy conditions, Fleetwood looks perfectly suited to contend on a layout that rewards discipline.

Bob MacIntyre arrives fresh and in form after a solo fourth at THE PLAYERS, another impressive result in what has been a consistently strong run. The Scotsman’s game travels well, particularly in tough conditions, and he won’t be fazed if the Texas winds pick up. He carded three rounds of 69 in his debut here last year, showing he can navigate the course effectively even without contending. With a well-rounded skill set and growing confidence, MacIntyre looks poised to take another step forward this week.

Value Picks

Sudarshan Yellamaraju continues to impress in his rookie campaign and is rapidly emerging as more than just a Rookie of the Year contender. Statistically, he’s elite across the board – second in total driving, top five in proximity and strong on the greens – a combination that fits TPC San Antonio perfectly. Back-to-back top-10 finishes (T5, T6) highlight his current form, and while this is his debut at the event, his profile suggests he can handle the challenge immediately.

Harman returns as defending champion and once again shapes as a factor on a course that rewards grit and patience. Last year’s victory was a classic Harman performance – steady, controlled and mentally tough in difficult conditions. He opened with a pair of 66s before grinding through a brutal Sunday to get the job done. Coming off a T11 at THE PLAYERS and well-rested, Harman’s ability to manage tough scoring environments makes him a serious contender to defend.
