Mornington Racing Club gets its opportunity to host midweek racing on Wednesday as XMAS parties become the norm over the next seven days. It's a twilight start as is the norm in summer for midweek racing and the first of seven gets underway at 4:15pm (AEDT). It looks to be a match race in the first, and we have had a play in that race which is for the maidens over 2025m. Runners will run on a Good track and the three best bets of the day are below.

Mornington Racing Tips: Wednesday, December 17th 2025
Race 1: Mornington Peninsula 3MP Maiden Plate 2025m - 4:15pm (AEDT)
(2) Distillery for Ben Brisbourne looks a good bet here on the back of his on pace 2nd at Wangaratta last start. He is second up here and the former Mick Price&Michael Kent Jr gelding looks as though he is a stayer and is ready for this trip again. Has placed on a Good 4 last time and the track will likely rate that way again.
(3) Good Lordy Me has had a few chances but led and raced really well for 2nd at Pakenham last start. It will be interesting to see if the Laing stable sticks to these tactics here.
(9) Jonquil ran on well to run 3rd at Pakenham two starts ago and then ran on again to finish 4th at the same track last time. Ready to step up in distance.
(2) Distillery WIN
$2.60 (3 units)
Race 5: Brad Masters Plumbing Handicap 1200m - 6:30pm (AEDT)
(1) Let’sfacethemusic runs well on Dry ground but had an off day last start at Cranbourne when 5th. Forgive that effort and he comes into play after running on well for 5th in a harder race than this at Bendigo the start prior. At the start of the year he ran some good races in town with one of them being at The Valley where he was 3rd behind Harry’s Yacht. That horse has since run well.
(2) Magarten has drawn inside and is first up and he does usually race well when fresh. He does usually get back in the run but has the ability to run on well.
(8) White Bear drops in class here but hasn’t won in ages. On November 19 he was 5th at Caulfield Heath and he does run better on Good tracks which he gets again. The former Hayes trained gelding is fit and likes this distance.
(1) Let’sfacethemusic WIN
$3.20 (2 units)
Race 7: The Devilbend Golf Course Handicap 1500m - 7:30pm (AEDT)
(9) Sketch will get a 1.5kg claim in this race so will run with 52.5kg. Last start she led but got tired carrying 56kg with Williams on so the drop in weight should help here. From barrier 1 she will settle in the top couple and she gets his first look at the 1500m. On November 12 she won at Caulfield with this barrier when starting a very short favourite. Go very close again.
(1) Blazing Harry does have to carry 60kg but has raced well with Beau Mertens on top previously. Has been racing on rain affected tracks and a drier track should help here. One start for a 2nd over this distance.
(2) Brung King hasn’t won in almost two years but can Place again. Has been unplaced his last three starts but he has the ability to run on if the leaders go too hard up front. Better on wet tracks but has placed on the Dry.
(9) Sketch WIN
$3.60 (2 units)
