Royal Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, December 13th 2025

Race 6: Bob Ingham Ao BM88 1800m - 3:25pm (AEDT)

(2) Pocketing: This gelding looked to be on a sharp upward trajectory last prep but didn’t quite return as expected. However, his latest run was a clear return to form — he took control, dictated throughout, and was only collared late by Sun God. He meets that runner far better at the weights here thanks to the 1.5kg claim, and that swing alone brings him right into calculations. A genuine value play with upside.

(5) Private Legacy: The roughie of the field but far from hopeless, this mare by The Autumn Sun rates reasonably for a race of this profile, despite her modest 2 wins from 25 starts. She draws the inside gate and gets Jason Collett aboard, which should ensure a soft, economical run. Fourth-up now and ready to improve, she’s the type who can bob up at big odds with the right run. Blowout chance.

(9) Rotagilla: A strong last-start winner who turned the tables on the talented Meridiana and did so with authority. he sticks to the 1800m — a trip he handles well — and has proven himself around this track. With Tim Clark staying aboard and confidence high, he looks every bit the deserving favourite.

(2) Pocketing E/W

$9.00/$3.00 (1U/3U)

Race 8: The Ingham Group 2 1600m - 4:45pm (AEDT)

(1) Gringotts: Flying this prep, having put together two very strong wins while lumping top weight on both occasions. He’s racing as well as ever and will have plenty of supporters chasing the hat-trick. On ability he’s clearly the class runner of the field, but once again must shoulder a big weight and, importantly, jumps from a horror draw. Those factors make him vulnerable, and for that reason he’s one I’m happy to watch go around.

(11) Rise At Dawn: This honest gelding has been ultra-consistent this preparation, producing four sound runs despite not breaking through. Freshened with a five-week let-up, he now steps back to the mile — a trip where he traditionally does his best work. He gets in superbly at the weights with just 53kg and has come up with a favourable draw, mapping to settle right on the speed in his preferred role. The race shape looks to suit, and with the favourite Gringotts lumping top weight of 61kg again and jumping from the outside alley, this fella gets every opportunity. Expect him to be in this for a long way. A genuine each-way play.

(14) Tavi Time: I’ve been in his corner his past two starts against Gringotts, and he had genuine excuses two runs back before failing to fire on a heavy track last time — a surface he clearly doesn’t handle. Back onto dry ground now, he stays in similar grade but continues to get in lighter at the weights. Today feels like D-Day: if he doesn’t produce what we know he’s capable of, he’ll be heading straight into the sack file. Based on previous efforts against similar rivals, he looks well over the odds. A live blowout.

Also Backing: (14) Tavi Time WIN $23 (0.5 Units)

(11) Rise At Dawn E/W

$10/$3.20 (1U/3U)

Race 9: Coolmore Spelling @ Mount White Razor Sharp 1200m - 5:00pm (AEDT)

(1) Coal Crusher: The veteran continues to defy age, returning to his brilliant best with a dominant Group 2 victory last start over 1300m. He drops slightly in trip here but still rates strongly and is going well enough to suggest he can back it up. A tough, seasoned campaigner who should give another honest sight.

(12) Weeping Woman: This mare is airborne and rightly commands favouritism. Her first-up win was full of merit — she punched forward to lead, was challenged and headed mid-straight, yet dug deep to rally and put the race away with authority. Last start she carried a hefty 61kg on a rain-affected track and again looked vulnerable when JELLICIOUS loomed, but her grittiness showed once again and she surged back to score, with gaps to the rest. Now third-up, she faces her toughest assignment to date, but crucially drops a significant 8kg and comes up with an ideal draw. She maps to roll forward and control the race once more, and with the way she’s progressing, she appears a mare very much on the rise. Confident she gives this a big shake — happy to be with her.

(12) Weeping Woman WIN

$3.60 (2.5 Units)
