Sandown Hillside hosts midweek racing today with an eight race program on offer for punters. The track should remain a Soft 5 with the first of the afternoon taking place at 1:25pm (AEST). A Chris Waller trained maiden interests us in the opener and he is one of our three best bets of the day.
Brendan Bunworth brings you his Sandown best bets for the day below as well as his Quaddie selections, with odds thanks to Ladbrokes. And if you’re after more free tips for this week's key meetings, then head over to our Racing Tips!

Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday, September 24th 2025
Race 1: Sportsbet Fastform Plate 1600m - 1:25pm (AEST)
(8) Crusader Voyage impressed when big odds last start (2nd) and goes around at short odds here ($2.30) but he does look like the one. He has placed in both starts when second up and Hillside looked good for him last start so baking up here again looks ideal. Zahra won two in a row before having eight outs so will be keen for a winner or two today.
(6) Enchanted Jenni gets a gear change with the nose roll on and that could be a key gear change in this event. She will want the track to remain Soft.
(9) Let It Beel settled handy and remained 3rd at Bendigo on the Heavy last start. Barrier 3 looks ideal and so does the combination of Moody&Coleman with Nolen as jock. He should be stronger with this being his second prep.
(8) Crusader Voyage WIN
$2.30 (3 units)
Race 4: Stow Storage Solutions Handicap 1600m - 3:10pm (AEST)
(11) Blindedbytheight has drawn his saddlecloth number as his barrier and despite it being wide he looks good here. He was a 4L winner at Bendigo last start but he had barrier 1 on that occasion so he will need a good ride from Nolen here. Likes Soft and Heavy tracks so won’t want a track upgrade. Has trained on since and there might be a Saturday race in the Spring Carnival for this galloper.
(6) Navy Heart ran on nicely last start for 3rd placing at Bendigo. Zahra remains on and $9.00 does look overs, especially if the pace is on.
(4) Jealous needs the sting out of the ground so the Soft track looks okay. First up here after winning a Cranbourne jumpout.
(11) Blindedbythelight WIN
$2.60 (2 units)
Race 7: Evergreen Turf Handicap 1300m - 4:55pm (AEST)
(10) Observer led all of the way at Lakeside two starts back before running 5th when getting tired last start at Flemington. Drops in grade for this race and he will look to control it. The Maher stable trains this guy now and will have him cherry ripe first up. Zahra stays on and he is 1 from 1 on top of the colt. Last time he was first up he ran a good 2nd and it wouldn’t surprise me if the money comes for this one.
(2) Regal Might has drawn inside and the consistent gelding likes to settle handy. Logan Bates who gets a 2kg claim here might position him 3rd behind the leader in this race I reckon so he should be placing.
(8) Sugar Coat is 1 from 1 for Nolen and goes well fresh. Does usually get back in this races but this is an easier assignment compared to his last start before his spell. If Observer goes to hard out in front then it will suit Sugar Coat.
(10) Observer WIN
$3.30 (2 units)
