Match Prediction
The pitch in Ahmedabad for the 3rd Test has been a major talking point in the cricket world over the past week. Spinners took 28 of the 30 wickets taken in the match and the game was over in less than two days. Obviously, they won’t be using the same pitch as they did in the 3rd Test, but they will be using the same ground, and there are some fears that it will be another extremely spin friendly pitch.
It’s hard to look past the Indians if that is the case. Throughout their series against Australia and India, they have managed to pull quality spinners out of the woodworks, most recently the youngster Axar Patel, who claimed 11 wickets and man of the match honours in the 3rd Test.
Australian fans will be desperately hoping for England to win this Test and tie the seires, which will result in the Aussies advancing to the Test championship against New Zealand at the end of the year. Unfortunately, we just don’t see it happening. The Indians start as strong favourites here and we are back to playing with a red ball for this test, which takes away any slight advantage the English seamers might have had. Back the Indians to win this Test and the series.

Rohit Sharma has been the lynchpin in the Indian batting line-up through this series so far. He’s proven to be incredibly difficult to dismiss with the new ball for the English seamers and once he gets in he often goes on to score big. Through the last two tests in particular, the opener has plundered scores of 161, 26, 66 ad 25* and in the series he has scored 296 runs at an average of 59.20. It’s safe to say that the Indians wont make the same mistake of playing three frontline seamers and only one spinner in this Test. With Ben Stokes as back up with the ball, the English will definitely opt to play two seamers and two spinners here, with Dom Bess coming back into the side. He is good value at $2.75 to take the most wickets for England in the first innings, as he did back in the first Test when he took 4/76.
