NBL Round 14 Preview & Betting Tips

January 17th 2019, 3:46pm, By: admin

What a weekend of upsets NBL Round 13 proved to be with the underdog getting up on four out of six occasions. The sheer unpredictability meant it was a tough week with us hitting on 2/6 of our plays, although we’re still enjoying a highly profitable season. We now shift our focus to NBL Round 14 and look to get back to winning ways. Good luck to everyone following!

NBL Round 14 Betting Tips

Adelaide 36ers vs Perth Wildcats (Thursday 7:50pm AEDT)

The First game of the round sees the 36ers host the Wildcats in Adelaide. This is just the second game between these teams this season, which means there’s still two more to come after Thursday night’s match-up.

The 36ers are coming off a home loss against the Bullets in their last time out. It was a very disappointing results for them in a game that could prove to be the difference in their finals pursuit. As it stands, the 36ers are in fifth position and a game outside of the top four.

The Wildcats have also had their share of trouble recently, and are coming off a shock loss at home to the Taipans last time out. All of the sudden they find themselves in a position where they could drop out of the finals picture if they don’t turn their form around.

The Wildcats are just unbackable at the moment in their current form. They’ve been stinking it up both at home and on the road. We’re more than happy to take the 36ers in a must win at home.

Illawarra Hawks vs New Zealand Breakers (Friday 7:50pm AEDT)

Second up in the round we have the Illawarra Hawks hosting the New Zealand Breakers on Friday night. The Breakers lead the four game regular season series 1-0 after winning by 17 points at home a few weeks back.

The Hawks enter this with three wins from their last five games and are coming off a great road win against the Kings last time out. They remain in the finals race with a 9-11 record, which has them two wins outside fourth spot.

The Breakers lost their most recent game to the Kings on the road by eight points. It loomed as a must win, but they were unable to overcome their opponents firepower. They’re now precariously placed in seventh spot on the ladder and three games outside the top four.

The head-to-head market in this one really could go either way, so we’ve opted to stay well clear of it here. However, we do believe the points line is around 5-10 too high, so we’re more than happy to suggest a play there.

Sydney Kings vs Adelaide 36ers (Saturday 2:50pm AEDT)

The first of two games on Saturday will see the Sydney Kings welcome the Adelaide 36ers to their home deck. This is the fourth and final game of the regular season series, which the 36ers currently lead 2-1.

The Kings were very disappointing in their home loss to the Hawks in their Round 13 fixture. We expected much better from the ladder-leading Kings, although they just couldn’t get anything to fall when it mattered. They’re now 13-7 on the season and are half a game ahead of United in second.

The 36ers will be playing their second game of the round when they travel to Sydney on Saturday. They’ll be coming across from Adelaide in what we expect to be a fast pace and gruelling game. For this reason, aswell as the talent advantage we believe the Kings have, we’ll be taking the Kings at the line.

Sydney Kings -4.5

Brisbane Bullets vs Cairns Taipans (Saturday 7:50pm AEDT)

A rare Saturday night game in the NBL will have the Brisbane Bullets hosting the Cairns Taipans in an intriguing match-up. The Taipans have won both of their two encounters this season and will be looking to clinch the season series with another win here.

The Bullets enter this game with back-to-back wins under their belt, having notched wins over the 36ers and United. Their hot form has seem them jump into fourth spot on the ladder and well and truly in the finals mix.

The Taipans have surprised many with their recent winning form, tallying two wins from their last four games. However, their season was done and dusted a long time ago, but it’s still nice to see them reward their loyal fans that turn up in numbers each and every home game.

Both the Bullets and the Taipans are playing their first game of the weekend here, so fatigue won’t be a factor. Surprisingly, two of the Taipans three wins have come against the bullets this year and both have been by big margins. They seem to match up really well here, so we’ll be taking them with a five point head start.

Perth Wildcats vs Melbourne United (Sunday 3pm AEDT)

In our view, the match of the round takes place on Sunday afternoon this weekend with the Perth Wildcats hosting Melbourne United. This is the third game between these teams this season. The head-to-head currently stands at 1-1, with each team taking care of home court.

The Wildcats will be returning home after their trip to Adelaide on Thursday night. As mentioned above, we do expect that to be a fast paced game that could go right down to the wire.

Meanwhile, United are coming off a week that saw them fade late against the Bullets to lose, before coming from behind against the Taipans to win an overtime thrilled. These results keep them in second spot and half a game back from the Kings in first.

Melbourne United have the advantage of a longer rest and time for planning, which we expect to be a big difference maker here. They also require a win to stay in touch with the Kings at the top, so we’re more than happy to take them at juicy odds.

Melbourne United Win

Cairns Taipans vs New Zealand Breakers (Monday 7:50pm AEDT)

The final game of the round is over in Cairns with the Taipans hosting the New Zealand Breakers on Monday night. This is the third meeting of four between these teams this season. The Breakers won the first by 23 points at home, before winning by 11 points on the road.

This will be both teams second game of the round when the face off on Monday night, meaning fatigue will definitely be a major factor. However, we don’t see either team as value in the head-to-head or line markets, but we’ve again found value in the totals market. There’s no way this should be set in the 170+ range with the fatigue and offensive struggles of both teams. We’re more than happy to take on the unders here.
