The Valley will host Saturday racing in the state of Victoria this week with the first of nine coming up at a slightly later time for the winter timelot at 1:05pm (AEST). The three year old fillies start us off on what is a nice program for punters before racing really heats up again in the weeks ahead. The Carylon Stakes which is over the sprint trip of 1000m is the race of the day with track specialist Oak Hill the favourite. There hasn’t been much rain around but the track is predicted to be Soft on the day.

Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Saturday, August 23rd 2025
Race 2: Simpson Construction Handicap - 1:40pm (AEST)
(6) Jennivamoose is on the up and is 2 from 2 with Harry Coffey on top. She has strong closing sectionals and she has finished a 1st and 2nd over this distance before. At this track on August 9 she came from a long way back over 2500m to score and she drew the carpark that day (12) so barrier 5 here will aid her you would think.
(7) Muktamil was unlucky at Flemington last start when 3rd and he drops another half a kilo for this assignment. He is very consistent and has placed at both starts at this track. Has drawn the widest but he has drawn wide the last couple and he has still ran well.
(5) Flamin’ Romans was 3rd last start and was 1.5L behind Jennivamoose. Drops 5kg from that effort and the consistent gelding does seem to like this track.
(6) Jennivamoose WIN
$2.70 (2 Units)
Race 3: Manhari Handicap - 2:15pm (AEST)
(6) Exit was an even money fav last start at Flemington and finished 3rd after making up steady late ground. She drops 2.5kg for this and the three year old might appreciate this weight relief. Is 1 from 1 on the Soft and his Hillside win on July 16 did look very good. Shinn is off but experienced Zahra is on so he loses nothing there.
(2) Godfred Kirk ran on well to score on Soft ground at Lakeside but he will likely give Exit a couple of lengths on the turn. Mott stays on but has to carry an extra half a kilo. Has drawn the inside though so he should save ground there.
(1) Crossbow won a race that had slow pace last start at Flemington. Has to carry 60kg this time and gets McNeil on for the first time. Is the current favourite but the $2.60 looks a bit short here.
(6) Exit WIN
$5.50 (1 Unit)
Race 8: Ascend Trophy Sales Handicap - 5:15pm (AEST)
(8) Run Harry Run for the Hayes boys could run a good race here I reckon. He has barrier 2 and should get a lovely run for Luke Currie who rides for the first time. He will settle in the top 4 from this barrier and there isn't a lot of pace in this. Might want the track to get to a Soft5 and if it does he will appreciate the firmer ground. Harry has 1 start for a 3rd at The Valley.
(5) Pounding was good when 2nd behind Jimmy The Bear in July and Moody&Coleman have freshened him up since. The experienced gelding will settle up there and he drops 4.5kg for this with the claim for Cartwright.
(3) Globe has a poor first up record but I think he will win a race in a few weeks. Has won 3 from 5 races on Soft tracks though and he does have a very good winning strike rate.
(8) Run Harry Run Each-Way
$5.50/$2.00 (1 Unit)
