India vs Australia 2nd ODI Betting Tips

Vizag, Sunday 19th March, 7.00pm (AEDT)

India

Predicted XI: Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Kannaur Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Ravindrasinh Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami

Australia looked in control at 2/129, before a collapse of 8/59 saw the Australians bowled out for 188. Mohammed Shami (3/17) and Mohammed Siraj (3/29) were the chief destroyers, in a pivotal part of the game that gave full control to India. India were in trouble with the bat at 5/83, however an unbeaten 108 run stand between KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja guided the Indians across the line.

KL Rahul’s return to the runs was a desperately needed one, scoring a crucial 75 not out to ensure his side got over the line. India were 4/39 after Shubman Gill was dismissed and were looking incredibly shaky against Mitchell Starc. Rahul was well supported by Jadeja’s 45 not out, as Jadeja continues to stack up quality performances against Australia.

There have been nine One Day Internationals played at the Dr.Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy International Cricket Stadium, with India winning seven, tying one and losing one. Australia have played at the venue once, a five wicket defeat to India in 2010. As expected, it’s traditionally a spin friendly surface that lacks bounce, which will play into India’s hands perfectly.

Australia

Predicted XI: Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Steven Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Joshua Inglis, Cameron Green, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Sean Abbott, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa

Australia went all rounder heavy with Marcus Stoinis batting at number nine, alongside four other all rounders. Andrew McDonald is experimenting with different combinations heading into the World Cup at the end of this year, as Stoinis, Green, Maxwell, Marsh and Sean Abbott all played in the one side.

David Warner is expected to return from a hairline fracture in his elbow, meaning there is a reshuffle likely required to the Australian line up. Mitch Marsh would likely move from opening to number three, and Marnus Labuschagne would fall out of the side. Marsh relished the opportunity to open the batting, smashing 81 off 65 deliveries to put Australia into a strong position.

The Aussies run rate was not an issue through the innings, however losing eight wickets in sixteen overs capped off another collapse on this tour. Australia have found themselves in strong positions on this tour and have failed to captialise, their bowlers have continuously put the Australians in positions to succeed, they just need their batting unit to contribute alongside them.

Match Prediction

As has been the major concern throughout the entire tour, it’s difficult to see the Australians producing winning scores. Mitch Marsh produced a score, however the rest of his teammates failed to get past a start. The Aussies need big runs out of their top order if they’re to compete with India, who continue to produce world class white ball cricketers.

India have won eight straight ODI games heading into this clash, and have won seven consecutive ODI series at home. India are in a strong position to continue their dominance in white ball cricket at home, and put Australia to the sword to take an unassailable lead in the series.

Prop Bets

Mohammed Shammi has taken 32 One Day International wickets against Australia, the second most of any country he has ever played against. Shammi once again dominated the Australians on Friday night, who don't know what to do around first class cricketers. Shami’s 3/17 set the tone for the series, and he’s in an excellent position to produce another big performance.

Tip: Mohammed Shami 2+ wickets, $1.90 with Ladbrokes

Ravindra Jadeja enjoyed his return to the one day stage, taking 2/46 en route to a man of the match performance once again. The left-armer picked up the crucial wicket of Mitch Marsh which started the collapse, which saw Australia bowled out for 148. Australia are still clueless against Jadeja, who will be looking for another big performance.

Tip: Ravindra Jadeja 2+ Wickets, Odds TBC
