(7) Capital Zous can give this a big shake at double figure odds. He was given a poor ride last start, getting back to last on the inside and only seeing clear air for 200m or so. Once he balanced up, he hit the line very strongly for 3rd. The step up to 1300m will suit, McNeil takes the ride, and he draws beautifully in barrier 4. With only three career starts, he has plenty of scope to improve, and the L Smith stable has started to hit some form the last couple of weeks.
Sandown Race 8 (Market)
(16) Tralee Rose is flying having won her last two. She was impressive last start at Flemington over 1700m, beating a handy field after being strongly backed. Night Witches has come out and won impressively at The Valley since, and she looks to map beautifully from barrier 4. The only negative I can find is Kersley replacing McEvoy, but she’s above $3 which looks more than fair - she’ll be hard to beat.
Warwick Farm Race 3 (Market)
(1) Miyake has to concede weight to the field here, but really looks to have a class edge on his rivals. He hasn’t won this prep, but his last three efforts have all been very good in stronger Saturday races. He was four weeks between runs last start on a heavy track and was only beaten 3L, and his two runs prior behind She’s Ideel and Relucent are easily good enough for this. Three weeks between runs here, second go at 2400m, onto a good track, with Jmac taking the ride from barrier 2 all point to him being very hard to beat.
Bunbury Race 2 (Market)
All roads lead to (4) Long May You Run. He’s only had two career starts, but the first was a 1L defeat to Chantorque, who is a very smart filly and won the Placid Ark on Saturday. He looked strong in an 1000m trial at Belmont recently, and with clear air from barrier 2 this looks a great option to get the maiden out the way.
