Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, October 22nd
Muswellbrook Race 3 (Market)
(1) Elgin may start one of the shorter priced favourites of the day, the Kris Lees/Adrian Bullock combo is a lethal one in this area and the 5YO gelding looks a lock for all that like the tomato sauce and as an anchor for your multis. He came through a good form race fresh at Newcastle where he didn’t have a lot of luck when the runs came and was only beaten a little over a length. He then had a similar run in a harder maiden at Newcastle last time and had to ease around runners before hitting the line well to narrowly miss the placings. Drawn well in an easier race, expect that the best provincial jockey in the land can get this fella his first win.
Muswellbrook Race 4 (Market)
Maiden and Class 1 races are usually hard to win for those that are still yet to break the duck, but I have found one that should be double figure odds and looks a good each-way chance. (7) Shivkhani is still a maiden after 19 attempts but he is racing very consistently this prep. HE has raced up on the speed at his last two at Scone, although they were only maidens, this doesn’t look much stronger. From the draw he will carve across early, the main reason I am keen to play in this, is because I want to take on the top-weight (1) Arabolini who should be hard in the market and also on the speed. He won his maiden at $8 at Port Macquarie last start, was all out at the back end on a heavy track. On a better surface today and up in trip, he looks vulnerable if he is not first across to the rails, with the 59kg I expect him to drift in the market, especially if the track gets to a good range.
Hamilton Race 2 (Market)
A mile set weight maiden gets us underway at Hamilton, most of these had their chances it is fair to say, none more so than (7) Costano Millie who is lining up for start number 92 today and still a maiden. If you purely went off her last run when runner-up in the $75k Hotham at Ballarat where she made up ground on the worst part of the track, you would think she would be a good thing in this! But how can you take her on trust? So, we look for one with a bit more upside, (9) There For You is a 4-start maiden trained up the Highway at Stawell by Dane Smith. She has had two runs back this prep, she was huge odds resuming at Coleraine behind one that won’t take long to win one out of that grade. She then went to Murtoa and was backed heavily from double figures in, she sat just off the speed and although she had her chance, she stuck on well enough to place. She stays at the mile again and is drawn beautifully, so long as one of her competitors doesn’t pull one out of the bag, this race is hers to lose. (1) Aurum Dromos looks the only danger if there is one, he has been only fair this time in but has had a 7-week let-up and is back in trip for the Wilde team at the Bool.
Hamilton Race 5 (Market)
(3) Liveinthefastlane is a two-time winner resuming that looks well in at this 58grade, 7-furlong event. She was right out to the 2500m of the SA Fillies Classic at Group Three level last start, so she will probably need further, but her class should get her through. She was pushed right out in a recent trial at Cranbourne and looks ready to go, she won’t know herself in this grade. She maps to be mid-field or worse in the run but hopefully Linda Meech just rides her positively and like the best horse in the race. This will be a good guide to how she has come back.
