Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, December 19th
Wyong Race 2 (Market)
At the time of writing there is black odds available about (1) Sea Echo, I certainly don’t think he will start better than evens and I suggest you take the odds early. He resumed here at Wyong and was very well backed, sat outside the leader but was no match for the winner, it should be noted that it was a huge gap back to third. That winner has since come out and won at 64 grade at its second career start. He then sat outside the leader again her last time and found one better, hopefully with the blinkers on today and the outside gate, he will be fired up early and can cross to the rail first. Hughie replaces Glyn Schofield, if he lands on the bunny, go again in the run.
Wyong Race 5 (Market)
(1) Jazzland loves racing here at his home track, he is a perfect three from three when he doesn’t have to get in the float on raceday. They had notified to ride him more conservatively here when resuming but he led all the way, as he did at the Kenso track second-up. He then went to Kembla in a BM78 worth $125K on their big day and after sitting up outside the speed, was goner early in the straight and weakened badly, eased down late. There was obviously an issue that day and he was forced trial, which he has done satisfactorily at Gosford recently. Back here at Wyong, he looks well in at the set weights and Josh Parr should be carving over early looking for the top. They won’t be running him down if he does find the rail first.
Warrnambool Race 2 (Market)
A rarity to be racing at the Bool on a good track, but here we are. Race 2 is a set weight maiden over 1000m, at the time of writing there are no prices out but we are going with one of three first-starters (11) Elderflower. The Lindsey Smith trained filly was trained in his Western Australian stable previously and had three trials back in the west, placing in all three. We are going to have to take her on trust as she hasn’t been seen at the trials or the jump-outs here in Victoria, from what we saw in WA she certainly looks to have the talent. It wouldn’t be the first time a local trainer has set one for a “bet” here on debut. In saying that, hopefully there is money for her. (6) Lucy Mac looks the obvious danger after placing at her last two, she draws out but has tactical speed and gets the blinkers on.
Cairns Race 2 (Market)
(4) Media Vite is having his first run here at the Cairns track, he also has to step back up to Open grade but after what we have seen this prep, particularly last start, he should be able to handle it. He placed at his first three runs at Townsville since resuming, he then had three weeks between runs before lining up in a BM69 there again last time. He was very well backed late, off the map if you will, backers would have been feeling sick shortly after the start when he was trapped wide and well back without cover early. He got to the centre of the track and stormed home to get up in the last stride. It was a huge win over the short course, drawn better here he should be able to position up on the speed today and hit the front early in the straight.
