Horse Racing Tips: Monday, June 24th
Scone Race 2
A little worried about the two first-starters at the top of the saddlecloths, (1) Entitlement and the well trialed (2) Rifles. (3) Reveal The Magic has been to the races once, he was big odds in a Newcastle maiden that was harder than this, was eased early to be behind the leaders, held-up again at the top of the straight before angling around heels and hitting the line well to run second. It was a good effort as it is very difficult to overcome any adversity when only running 900m, he should go forward and sit outside the speed and with that race experience and an un-interrupted run to the line, be too good. Obviously respect any serious money for the top two.

Scone Race 4
(5) True Finesse was ok second-up in a much harder race at Dubbo, she then went to Taree and was backed as if there was no settling at Maiden and Class 1 level. I am usually wary of form coming out of that class as it can be full of non-winners, literally. He was up on the speed and angled around the leaders before running on too well. The mile is a trip she has recorded both her wins at, back at her home track, the amount of money for her last time shows me that she is going to win again soon. Very happy to take on the last start maiden winner (1) High Court. The wide gate and the fact that he is having his sixth run at his first prep, lay all day.
Wangaratta Race 3
(1) Clifford Snowflake was ok on debut at Swan Hill but had every chance after a perfect run in a maiden that may not prove the greatest form guide. (11) Fighting Faith has placed at four of five career runs, has showed that she can do work in the run as she has at her last couple. She draws horribly here and happy to take those two on. (8) Stogursey Prince debuted on the last day of the Swan Hill carnival, was well backed and after sitting wide without cover, he kept finding the line even after copping a check late. He maps a lot better here and Rawiller rides him positive and he will be hard to run down.
Wangaratta Race 4
(14) Showamour has had two starts this prep and both were at the 1200m, she comes back against the boys here and looks suited getting out to the mile. She was mid-filed in the run at Swan Hill over the carnival and hit the line well, this is her first go past the 6 furlongs and she looks to be crying out for it. I expect that (13) Regal Ballerina will be heavily backed, she gets the blinkers for the first time and will be up on the speed, but she has had her chances to break the duck. Would be happy to lay her if she is any shorter than 2/1 ($3.00). (3) Colorado State was beaten out of sight resuming, but gets off the heavy track and out in trip, both look a plus. Save on him.
Wangaratta Race 10
Hopefully there is an early scratching or two so that the emergency (15) Alexandra Dreaming can get a run. She was a winner on debut and hadn’t been doing much since, but may have turned the corner after showing improvement last time at Sale over this trip. She may have a bit of upside at the mile and further, I liked the way she hit the line last time and with the gear change and winkers on, she may be able to settle closer. Look for her late. (9) Executive Power is an interesting runner, the former Kiwi was ok at his Oz debut over an unsuitably shorter trip. He was first-up for over a year that day for the Gelagotis stable, he made ground late and there has been a subsequent winner out of that race. They look two good chances at each-way odds.
