EPL 2026-27: Matchday 7 Preview & Betting Tips
Brentford vs Liverpool
Gtech Community Stadium, Sunday 18th October, 1:00am AEDT
Brentford will be looking to keep their place in the top four, when they host Liverpool on Sunday morning. The Bees are unbeaten through six games with a 2-4-0 record, picking up a 2-2 draw against Aston Villa last week. Liverpool are in ninth position after their first loss of the season, a 3-0 hiding from City in an emotional fixture at Anfield. It’s been a difficult start to life under Andoni Iraola, with the Reds winning just two of their first six games.
Brentford have had excellent balance in their game at each end of the pitch, ranking as the fourth highest scoring team in the Premier League (12 goals) and have conceded the second fewest goals in the league (6). Liverpool have been a great defensive outfit conceding only seven goals, but have struggled badly in attack without Mo Salah, scoring 6 goals - ranked 14th in the league.
These two clubs have played in plenty of draws this season, the Bees had had four draws from six games while the Reds have played in three draws from six games. Given Liverpool’s struggles in the front third this season, they may look to make this a slow game that their midfield can control, to limit Brentford’s attacking weapons. Brentford rank 15th in the league for possession, so it does give Liverpool a chance to play the game at their pace. Even if Liverpool control proceedings, Brentford’s efficient attack will pose problems. The last matchup between these two teams was a draw, and that’s where we will be going in this fixture.
Leeds vs Manchester United
Elland Road, Monday 19th October, 12:00am AEDT
One of English football’s great rivalries adds another chapter on Monday morning as Leeds and Manchester United face off at Elland Road. Season 2026/27 has been two very different tales for both clubs with Leeds exceeding expectations to be in seventh place, while Manchester United sit in thirteenth place with just one win from their first six games. The Red Devils have had a horrible start to the season, perfectly summarised by their performance last week. United allowed a 10 man Tottenham that is yet to win a game this season, to score in stoppage time to hold them to a 1-1 draw.
Leeds have been very competitive across the early part of the season, recording draws against Brighton and Brentford who are both in the top four, whilst also pushing second placed Arsenal right to the end last week. They don’t pose a massive attacking threat which will eventually become a problem the longer the season goes on, however their defence is keeping them in games which has been a massive positive as they look to stay clear of the relegation battle.
Leeds and Manchester United haven’t been attacking powerhouses this season, with United scoring 9 goals (ranked 9th) and Leeds scoring 8 goals (ranked 12th). Manchester United’s last three games have all gone under 2.5 total goals, while four of Leeds’ six games this season have seen the total goals under 2.5. Look for Leeds to present a dour affair that Manchester United have been incapable of getting through this season, all roads point towards a low scoring affair.

Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal
City Ground, Monday 19th October, 2:30am AEDT
The defending champions will be looking to stay within touching distance of top spot when they travel to the City Ground to play Nottingham Forest. Arsenal got back on the winners list thanks to a strong second half, scoring twice to come from behind to beat Leeds 2-1. Forest have had a tough start to the season, with a 1-2-3 start to the season and look set for another year that will see them involved in a relegation battle late into the season.
Nottingham Forest’s biggest issue through six games has been their inability to convert in the front third. Forest have only scored 5 goals (2nd fewest in the league) despite having recorded 106 shots on goal, the third most in the league. Arsenal on the other hand have only recorded 78 shots on goal (ranked 11th) but have scored 10 goals (5th most in the league). The difference in efficiency between these sides is a major issue for Arsenal, who are still yet to hit their best this season.
Mikel Arteta’s side has certainly had the better of this match up in recent seasons, with a 5-2-1 record in their last eight Premier League fixtures against Forest. Despite not playing at their best, the Gunners have five wins from six games and will certainly be contending for the Premier League title at the pointy end of the season. It’s impossible to see how a Forest side that has been so bad in their attacking third, finds a way through the best defensive side in the league. Arsenal will win this clash in convincing fashion.
