January 13th 2022, 7:10pm, By: Jack Tobin

EPL MD22 Betting Tips

The Premier League is back, and fans will be treated to some huge clashes! Man City and Chelsea do battle in a top of the table clash, while Matchday 22 is rounded out by the second North London Derby of the season! As always, we’ve got you covered with our tips and preview.

EPL Matchday 22 Betting Tips

Manchester City vs Chelsea

Saturday 15th January, 11.30pm (AEDT)

The title race is on the line this weekend, with Chelsea in desperate need to gain ground on Manchester City who are running away with the title once again. City sit ten points clear of Chelsea and are in the midst of a purple patch, winning eleven games in a row. It feels like history repeating itself with City going on a major unbeaten run this time last year as they cruised to the title, after a slow start to the season.

Just like last season, City have the number one ranked attack (53 Goals) and the number one ranked defence (13 goals conceded). City have sixteen individual goal scorers, the most of any team in the Premier League.

Since their defeat to Crystal Palace back in October, City have won eleven games, lost zero, scored 32 goals and conceded 7. They’ve been utterly dominant and have shown why they’ve won three of the last four titles. City also have an excellent recent record against Chelsea, going 4-2-0 in the last six Premier League fixtures against Chelsea, including a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge earlier this season. Man City have been unstoppable and with a chance to give themselves a thirteen point gap at the top of the League, expect the City to produce a big performance.

Wolverhampton vs Southampton

Sunday 16th January, 2.00pm (AEDT)

Wolves host Southampton at the Molineux on Sunday, looking to extend their unbeaten run to four games. Wolverhampton are coming off a win against Man United at Old Trafford and a draw against Chelsea, with their defence standing up against the biggest clubs in the Premier League.

Wolves are sitting in eighth place on the Premier League table, after an impressive month of football. Wolves' impressive season has been built on their elite defence, which is the second best defence in the Premier League, conceding just 14 goals in 19 games.

Wolverhampton will be full of confidence coming into this clash given their recent successes against Southampton. Wolves have a 3-1-0 in their last four Premier League matches against the Saints, and they have not lost to Southampton since 2019. Southampton haven’t been a prolific side in attack this season, and it’s hard to see them breaking down Bruno Lage’s men. Wolves will be looking to keep a slow control on this game, and they’ll be too good for the Saints.

Tottenham vs Arsenal

Monday 17th January, 3.30pm (AEDT)

Finishing off Matchday 22 we’ve got the most crucial North London Derby in recent years, with Spurs having a chance to leapfrog Arsenal on the Premier League table whilst still having two games in hand on the Gunners. Tottenham are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League fixtures, although it’s important not to get carried with their form given they played seven sides in the bottom half of the table in that run.

Arsenal are coming off a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Man City in one of the games of the season, and despite the result, will be buoyed by how they took it up to the best side in the Premier League. The Gunners have won four of their last five Premier League games, with an aggregate score of 14-1. Arsenal have the fifth ranked attack in the league with 35 goals this season, and have been solid in defence with the third most clean sheets in the Premier League (9).

Arsenal have won their last two Premier League games against Tottenham, including a 3-1 at the Emirates earlier this season. The Gunners have played enterprising football and have stacked up well against top six opposition in the last month. The North London Derby is always a huge clash, but it’s even more significant given the positions of both sides on the table at the moment. This is going to be a cracking encounter, but Arsenal will just have too much in attack.
