The concluding game of the Ashes series is upon us, and it is the final chance to see some of the best players do battle before the commencement of the 2026 season. The Kangaroos clinched the series in a spiteful contest last week but by no means is there nothing to play for in this match. Tension is always high between these two sides, and it is likely that, in a game of this nature, an unusual spectacle takes place. It makes for an exciting game of rugby league and Before You Bet is here to take a detailed look at what is ahead in this contest.

England vs Australia Rugby League Betting Tips - 2025 Game 3
Improving but still not great
The English improved their defence from their opening match of the series; however, that appeared to rely upon ‘upsetting’ their opponents by pushing the boundaries. It ensured a closer than expected contest but some of the same issues do remain. With more possession (53%) and a superior completion rate (76%), they failed to score a try and were limited to just 7.4m per carry and 1 line break. This type of performance would not be tolerated, and the cracks will begin to open the longer this team stays together. With a RLWC on the horizon, this game must be the catalyst for change.
Still not at their best
It was a tough effort for the Kangaroos to prevail last week; rather than play to their own high level, they were dragged into a fight with their opponents. This was no surprise given the way they had executed in the first match of the series. It was surprising that they performed as they did, given the circumstances. They had just 47% possession, completed at 69%, yet managed 8.6m per carry and more PCM’s. Interestingly, they missed 49 tackles but scrambled well to keep their opponents from crossing the tryline. It is still only their second game together and one wonders just the heights this team could climb to, should they improve again here.
A clean sweep
The Kangaroos will be focussed on locking up the series. Pride has returned to the jersey recently and they will be acutely aware of the rewards that are on offer, as well as the psychological blow which will occur to their opponents ahead of the 2026 RLWC. This will be a focussed team. They will want to overcome their limitations last week and this stage offers them the perfect setting. England have a point to prove though but, this requires them to reinvent their attack. Based on what has been displayed in the opening two matches – they’ve scored just one try – the attack is limited. Unless they produce something vastly different, it should be another commanding victory to Australia. Just like last week though, the line is too large to take on. Rather, increase your investment and invest on the visitors getting a clean sweep by more than 2 converted tries.
