Doomben Racing Tips: Saturday, May 17th 2025
Race 3: Impressu Plate– 1350m – 12:58pm (AEST)
(1) Pisces $3.30: 3YO gelding who continues to run on nicely, but just cant notch up that win. Stips fitter fourth up and can handle the wet track. J-Max jumps back into the saddle who has a win and second from his two steers. Draws well and deserves to be favourite. Goes well.
(4) Apuntar $15.00/$3.50: Roughie of the field who was terrific second and third up before having excuses most recently. Hard fit and gets a lovely draw. Noel Callow steers and he goes well on the wet deck. Blow out hope.
(8) El Morzillo $5.00: 3YO Grey girl who we tipped two runs back and she was brilliant. A touch too tough most recently. Gets back in grade now and rates highly for this. Jason Collett jumps in who is a top jockey and her record on the soft track is okay. Draws well and has to be a top chance. Happy to have a crack at the $5.00 price.
(8) El Morzillo
$5.00 (1 Unit)
Race 8: Doomben 10,000 (GROUP 1) - 1200m – 4:02pm (AEST)
(4) Veight $27.00/$6.00: Roughie of the field who was safely held last campaign, but prior to that he had been terrific. He was unbeaten first up before that campaign and that alone boosts confidence here. He trialled nicely and has already had a push in the market. Proven on the wet and can blow this out. One for the exotics.
(10) Jedibeel $10.00/$3.10: 5YO Gelding who was terrific last start only narrowly being beaten. Hasn’t had all that much luck in several runs and still gives sight. Terrific soft track record and over this trip with Tyler Schiller getting back on top who has won 6 times aboard. Draws well and will be hitting the line hard.
(12) Sunshine In Paris $4.40: 5YO Mare who has been ticking boxes in all three runs back and will once again be playing a role. Only concern is the wide draw which will require some luck in the early stages. Rates well and J-Mac steers, so will be a big chance.
(10) Jedibeel E/W
$10.00/$3.10
Race 9: Hkjc World Pool Rough Habit Plate - 2000m – 4:38pm (AEST)
(1) Firm Agreement $4.50: 3YO gelding who has finished second in his last three runs and is knocking on the door for another win. Has had a small break and trialled up before nominating for this. Rates really well here with set weights. Draws well and has a nice wet track record. Looks to be the one to beat. On top.
(2) Shangri La Spring $5.50: Terrific winner two back knocking off Firm Agreement, but had a slightly better run out in front. Dropped back to the mile after that and held on for fourth. Gets back to 2000m and will likely try and dictate again. Will need some luck from the wide draw. Chance.
(14) Belle Detelle $5.00: 3YO Filly who hadn’t missed the placings until last start and has since had a trial where she didn’t leave first gear and just had a nice cruise through to the line with J-Mac on board. He remains in the saddle to steer for this and drops back to 2000m which looks ideal. Small market move in the early market and bears close watching.
