CrownBet Signs Deal with Clubs NSW

February 9th 2017, 8:35pm, By: admin

CrownBet have made a ground-breaking deal with Clubs NSW. The deal, which will involve CrownBet placing tablets and phones inside Clubs around NSW where punters can sign up and bet live in the venue, could finally begin to chip away at the current Tabcorp monopoly in venues around Australia.

While the TAB style machine won’t be offered by CrownBet in the deal, customers will still be able to place live bets in the venue via a special app that will be displayed on tablets throughout the venue.

It’s not the first-time attempts have been made to take down TAB’s freehold in venues. Back in 2012, online bookmaker, Sportsbet, lost a legel case over whether it had the right to install betting terminals in pubs and clubs around Victoria. The Victorian appeals court found that Tabcorp had the exclusive rights in the state.

With CrownBet already possessing a large customer base in Victoria, their deal with the NSW venues are a part of a big push into the state’s market. Clubs that house the CrownBet features will be given incentives for signing up new customers and customers who bet in venues with CrownBet will be rewarded with CrownBet’s already popular rewards points system.

With Clubs NSW representing over 1200 venues across the state with over 6.7 million members total, it’s a massive win for CrownBet and in turn any other online bookmaker that might wish to take a run at TAB’s ownership of venues.

The deal with Clubs NSW will span over ten years, making CrownBet the official wagering partner to all of it’s venues. CrownBet chief executive Matthew Tripp said the deal was the biggest he’s ever made in his 20 years in the wagering industry.

The move is testimony to CrownBet being one of the most exciting and innovative online bookmakers in Australia and Tripp stated that it could be just the first of many plays into multiple states. It’s a breath of fresh air to the current Australian venues operating TAB machines, 95% of which are losing money due to the high price Tabcorp charges to have TAB outlets and broadcast Sky Racing.
