AFL Daily Fantasy Tips 2026: Round 5 Magpies vs Dockers

April 9th 2026, 6:20pm, By: Jesse Penfold

AFL Fantasy Tips

Round 5 of the 2026 AFL Premiership Season continues this Friday night with another huge daily fantasy contest on offer from Draftstars with over $60,000 in guaranteed prize money in their main daily fantasy tournament.

This Friday night at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round delivers one of the most anticipated matchups of the weekend, with Collingwood hosting Fremantle in what is shaping as a genuine quality contest. The Dockers head in as 13.5-point favourites, having won three straight including a gutsy two-point win over Adelaide last week, and they arrive as one of the form sides in the competition sitting fourth on the ladder. Collingwood come into this game after a heavy loss to Brisbane, however they receive an enormous boost with Nick Daicos and Scott Pendlebury both confirmed to return from injury. First-year draftee Angus Anderson will also make his AFL debut for the Pies. Collingwood will be very keen to get their season back on track as they aim for finals, while the Dockers will be looking to solidify their spot in the top four.

Draftstars are offering a number of different contests to suit your style, some of these include:

AFL $60,000+ Magpies vs Dockers

AFL $5,000+ Magpies vs Dockers High Roller ($150 Entry)

AFL $3,000+ Magpies vs Dockers Mini ($2 Entry)

AFL $2,000+ Magpies vs Dockers Micro (50c Entry)

Also this season the AFL Star is back for 2026 with a massive $1 million prize pool! Win your way into the Final by winning a Golden Ticket in a range of qualifiers running every weekend!

AFL Daily Fantasy Lineup Tips: Round Five – Collingwood vs Fremantle

AFL Fantasy Round Five - Friday: Where to Attack?

We continue to lean on the back half of 2025 to guide our matchup analysis as we head into the early rounds of the season.

This is a matchup between two quality defensive teams, which makes finding clear avenues to attack more challenging than most single-game slates. Collingwood have consistently given up above average points to the designated kicker — the second most in the league over the last 10 games at over 7 points per game above league average — and above average points to attacking half backs and wings at over 9 points per game above league average (most in the league). That sets up a clear Fremantle backline stack.

On the other end, Fremantle have been giving up above average points to inside midfielders at over 3 points per game above league average. This will open up opportunities for Magpies midfielders with everyone’s favourite fantasy player returning this week.

Game Script – Fremantle backs, Collingwood midfielders, Fremantle key forwards

AFL Fantasy Round Five - Friday: Our Value Fantasy Picks

Heath Chapman ($9,610) is one of the more reliable value options on this slate in his half-back role for Fremantle. He has posted scores of 70, 78 and 74 across his last three games for a steady 74-point average, showing consistency that is rare at this price point. As a half-back distributor for one of the more possession-dominant teams in the league, Chapman generates uncontested possessions and marks reliably each week. Collingwood have given up above average points to attacking half backs over the last 10 games and with Fremantle expected to control significant periods of this game, Chapman's disposal accumulation should be well supported. At under $10k he provides a reliable floor in Fremantle stacks.

Angus Anderson ($6,000) makes his AFL debut on Friday night for Collingwood at minimum price and is one of the more compelling dart plays of the season so far. The 22-year-old mature-age draftee has been absolutely dominant in the VFL, producing 29 disposals, 12 clearances and 8 tackles in the win over Coburg to earn the VFL Coach's MVP award — then backing it up with 20 disposals and six score involvements against GWS the week prior. Craig McRae pulled no punches in his assessment this week noting that contested work would be a priority and that is both a ringing endorsement for the possibility that Anderson will be thrown straight into the contested midfield. The risk with debutants is always around exact minutes and role clarity, but for a player at minimum price with that VFL form and that specific role endorsement from his senior coach, his ceiling far exceeds the price. A boom or bust tournament dart that frees up significant salary to spend on the premiums.

AFL Fantasy Round Five - Friday: Our Mid Price Fantasy Picks

Jordan Clark ($12,960) is the designated kicker for Fremantle and the clearest matchup play on this slate. As established in the where to attack section, Collingwood have given up the most points in the league to the designated kicker position over the last 10 games — and Clark is the primary beneficiary leading Fremantle in kick ins this season (although this has reduced towards Luke Ryan in recent weeks). His scoring across his last three games for a 85-point average has also been down on past years, so expect a bounce back in the coming weeks. At just under $13k for a designated kicker in the best possible matchup for that position on the slate, he is a lock-and-load mid-price play.

Josh Treacy ($11,730) is in the form of his life and has established himself as the most dangerous aerial forward in the competition through the opening four rounds of 2026. He has posted scores of 78, 120 and 110 across his last three games for an average of 103 points, and his 10 goals for the season combined with a competition-leading 10 marks per game tell you exactly what kind of impact he is having on this Fremantle forward line. The 23-year-old is operating as a genuine contested marking machine and Collingwood have given up above average points to key forwards over the last 10 games and given they are without Darcy Moore in defence role, their key matchup against Treacy becomes a significant question mark. At $11,730 he is significantly underpriced for the output he is currently producing and is a must-consider mid-price play in any Fremantle stack.

Murphy Reid ($11,640) is in his second AFL season and is already one of the most exciting young players in the competition. In 2026 his game has evolved significantly with Fremantle deploying him in an expanded role that mixes midfield rotations with his natural half-forward game. His last three scores of 91, 71 and 83 show the consistency of a player who is finding the ball regularly and impacting the scoreboard while attending 25% of the teams centre bounces.

AFL Fantasy Round Five - Friday: Our Premium Fantasy Picks

Nick Daicos ($17,130) is the standout premium on the slate and arguably the best fantasy player in the competition right now. He has been extraordinary this season when fit, averaging 134 points through three games with scores of 140, 127 and 136. Last week's heavy loss to Brisbane came without him, which tells you exactly how much his presence changes the Magpies' fantasy output. Against a Fremantle side that has given up above average points to inside midfielders, Daicos — who blends inside contested work with elite outside accumulation — is in his ideal matchup. He is the first name in any lineup on this slate regardless of which way you are building.

Andrew Brayshaw ($15,680) is Fremantle's engine room and one of the most consistent fantasy performers in the competition. He has posted 103, 93 and 132 across his last three games for an average of 109 points and is the primary inside midfielder for one of the form teams of 2026. Collingwood have given up slightly below average points to inside midfielders over the last 10 games, which isn’t enough to ignore Fremantle midfielders all together on a single game slate. His ceiling score of 132 last week shows what is possible at full capacity and in a game Fremantle are expected to be competitive in from the first bounce, he should fill up.
