NBA Betting Tips: Wednesday 28th December
Philadelphia 76ers at Washington Wizards
Capital One Arena, 11am AEDT
The 76ers will be looking to extend their long winning streak when they head to the nation’s capital to take on the Wizards. The 76ers are the narrow favourites at the time of writing ($1.49 vs $2.63).
The 76ers have relied on their execution down the stretch to win the majority of their games during their current eight-game win streak. Each of the first seven of those wins came in Philadelphia as well, so they still have a lot to prove on the road.
In contrast, the Wizards have just finished a long six-game road trip and will be thankful to be back on their home deck on Wednesday. In fact, 13 of their last 17 games have been on the road and they’ve managed to win only three of them.
These teams bring completely different form into this game and for that reason I’m surprised the 76ers aren’t a lot shorter odds. Yes, they haven’t been as solid on the road as they have on their home deck, but they still have a large talent edge in this matchup and should be able to get the better of the current version of the Wizards.

Los Angeles Lakers at Orlando Magic
Amway Center, 11am AEDT
Not many people would’ve thought the Magic would be starting favourites against the Lakers at this point of the season, but that’s exactly the circumstance set to play out on Wednesday ($1.54 vs $2.50).
The Lakers have struggled mightily without Anthony Davis on the court and they’ll have to get used to it as the superstar is going to be side-lined indefinitely. They’ve lost each of their last four games and eight of their last 11, which has seen them slide down to 13th in the West.
Meanwhile, the Magic have hit a purple patch in recent weeks and would be riding a nine-game win streak had they not lost to the Hawks by a single point three starts back. Their change in fortune has coincided with improved roster health along with some better chemistry among their young studs.
The Magic are flying at the minute and won’t be worried at all about facing the Lakers without AD. As long as they perform as well as they have in recent weeks, they’ll have no problem securing another easy win on Wednesday.
Orlando Magic -4

Phoenix Suns at Memphis Grizzlies
FedExForum, 12pm AEDT
The depleted Suns will be licking their wounds after a tough loss in Denver on Christmas Day, and it doesn’t get any easier for them when they head to Memphis on Wednesday. The Suns are set to start as the big underdogs ($3.34) against the Grizzlies ($1.33)
The Suns continue to be without sharpshooter Cam Johnson who suffered a meniscus tear early in the season. Joining him on the side-lines for this one is superstar Devin Booker, Cam Payne, and the in-form Landry Shamet.
Those key outs, coupled with the poor form of Chris Paul and the inconsistency of DeAndre Ayton make this trip to Memphis an incredibly hard task. It’s tough to see where a winning score will come from, especially with how poor their defence has been of late.
All signs lead towards an easy home win for the near full-strength Grizzlies.
