2021-22 NBA Betting Tips: Tuesday 28th December

December 27th 2021, 10:54pm, By: SmitsTips

NBA Betting Tips Tuesday 28th December

There’s plenty of NBA action on as we approach the New Year, including a seven-game slate on Tuesday. Here, you can check out all of our best spread and player prop dates for the day.

NBA Betting Tips: Tuesday, 28th of December

Houston Rockets at Charlotte Hornets

Spectrum Center, 11am AEDT

The Rockets have well and truly cooled off from the form that saw them win seven straight games, as they enter this game having lost seven of their last nine. Most recently they were defeated by the Pacers on the road by 12 points to make it three straight road losses by at least a dozen points. The Rockets will be playing their fifth consecutive road game when they take to the courts in Charlotte on Tuesday.

The Hornets, like most teams, have had their struggles with player availability this season, which has made it hard for them to find some consistency from game to game. Most recently they secured a much-needed eight-point road win against the Nuggets, which ended a three-game losing streak and finished off their six-game road trip where they went 2-4.

These teams have met once this season, meaning their clash on Tuesday will be their final meeting this campaign. Their first game was an absolute shootout that required overtime to determine a winner, with the Rockets coming away on top via a 146-143 score-line. The Rockets were in peak form during that clash and have well and truly fallen off the horse since, which should make for an easy revenge win for the Hornets this time around.

Charlotte Hornets -5.5

Chicago Bulls at Atlanta Hawks

State Farm Arena, 11:30am AEDT

The Bulls continue to tick over the win column and are now just 1.5 games back from the #1 seed in the East. They recently finished off their perfect three-game home stand with an eight-point win against the Pacers, which also made it seven wins from their last nine games. In line-up news, Coby White is expected to start at the point guard slot in place of the unavailable Lonzo Ball.

The Hawks have had an inconsistent season from the get go and enter this slate having lost seven of their last 10 games. They’ve only managed to generate one win streak of more than two wins for their entire campaign, which came in November when they reeled off seven straight. The Hawks continue to be without some of their most important players due to health and safety protocols, with Trae Young being the biggest name missing out.

The Bulls will start as the clear favourites in the first meeting between these teams this season despite being the road team. They’ll field a team that is somewhat close to their best, which certainly isn’t the case for the decimated Hawks. On current form the Bulls are the far better team and we expect that to translate to a relatively easy win on Tuesday.

Chicago Bulls -4.5

Dallas Mavericks at Portland Trail Blazers

Moda Center, 2pm AEDT

The Mavericks continue to struggle to secure wins without their superstar in Luka Doncic suiting up. Jalen Brunson has done an admirably job filling in at the point guard spot in his absence, but that hasn’t stopped them from losing four of their last five games. The Mavs are now two games below .500 at 15-17 and sit in eighth spot in the West.

The Trail Blazers have arguably been the most disappointing team this season and will surely shake things up before the trade deadline in a couple of weeks. They’ve certainly had their fair share of injuries and Covid issues, but that’s not a viable excuse considering it’s effected just about every team in the league. Most recently the Trail Blazers lost by 14 points against the Pelicans, which snapped a mini two-game win streak they’d cooked up.

Neither team would be proud of the form they bring into this clash, but it’s fair to say the Mavericks have been the more competitive team and deserve to favourites here in our opinion. Both teams are missing superstars and will be playing with short rotations, which suits the Mavs who are the deeper of the two teams. We have them getting back on the winners list with a good road win here.
