2019 MLB Betting Tips: Wednesday 3rd July

July 2nd 2019, 1:38pm, By: andyrosos

We hit on 2/3 MLB betting tips last Wednesday for a profitable day and we’ll be looking to back it up again this week as we take a look at some of the key value matches in the  massive 15 game Major League Baseball slate!

MLB Betting Tips Wednesday 3rd July

Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays (9.05am AEST)

Boston has lost their last three games on the spin and will be looking to bounce back on Wednesday as they travel to Toronto to start a three game series. The Red Sox currently sit 11 games behind the AL East division leading Yankees and will need to go on a serious run to even give themselves a chance at picking up a wildcard spot into the playoffs.

David Price will be on the mound against his old side on Wednesday. The lefty has been one of better pitchers for the Red Sox this season, maintaining a 5-2 record with a 3.36 ERA through 14 starts. He’ll be up against righty Trent Thornton, who has a 2-5 record through 17 starts this season but was good in his last outing against the Red Sox.

The Red Sox start as slight favourites here, which is strange given their form of late and the fact that they are on the road. However, their offence has found some rhythm over their last two games, scoring 21 runs in their recent two game series against the Yankees, unfortunately, both losses. If they bring that same offence to Toronto, they should win with Price on the mound.

New York Yankees at New York Mets (9.10am AEST)

The two New York rivals will do battle from 9.10am at Citi Field as the Yankees look to extend their lead in the AL East division. They currently have a 54-28 record and sit 6.5 games clear of the trailing Tampa Bay Rays. They’ll have James Paxton on the mound on Wednesday, who will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing outing in his last game against the Mets where he was smashed for 6 runs in just over 2 innings.

He’ll be up against Zach Wheeler, who has been pushed up in the Mets rotation on regular rest to open the two game Subway Series. He will also be looking to comeback from a bad start in his last outing against the Yankees, where he allowed 9 runs.

The Yankees are coming off a statement series against the Red Sox in which they won two out of two games and piled on a mammoth 29 runs. We wouldn’t blame them if they ran out of gas against a quality starter in Wheeler, who has been impressive in his last 15 games with a 6-4 record and 3.95 ERA. We like the Mets at the handicap with the home field advantage here.

Mets +1.5

$1.73

Arizona Diamondbacks at Los Angeles Dodgers (10.10am AEST)

The late game of the day sees the Diamondbacks travelling to Los Angeles to take on the Dodgers from 10.10am. the Dodgers currently have the best record in all of baseball at 57-29 and have won six of their last 10 games. They captured a 10-5 win over Colorado on Monday and will kick off a short two games series against Arizona on Wednesday.

The Dodgers will have Ross Stripling on the mound on Wednesday, who will make just his 8th start of the season due to injury to ace Clayton Kershaw. He is primarily the team’s main long relief man out of the bullpen and has a 3-2 record with an impressive 3.08 ERA this season.

He’ll be up against righty Taylor Clarke, who has been pretty lacklustre through eight starts so far this season with just a 2-3 record and a 6.10 ERA. We can’t see the Dodgers offence having any troubles with Clarke on Wednesday, especially back at home, back them to win comfortably.

Dodgers -1.5

$1.86
