Just the six game slate in the NBA this Tuesday, the 5th of November but still some great matchups to look forward to and plenty of value in the betting markets. We take a look at some of the key games of the day and give our betting tips below.
NBA Betting Tips Tuesday 5th November
New Orleans Pelicans at Brooklyn Nets (11.30am AEDT)
The Pelicans have been extremely competitive in the Western Conference to start the season, but unfortunately haven’t been able to get over the line on a regular basis. They have a 1-5 record through their opening six games, having lost three of those five games by single digits. They have scored over 100 points in all six of their games and are the fourth highest scoring team in the league.
One of the three teams sitting above the Pelicans in that stat is the Nets. The Nets could be considered the Eastern Conference version of the Pelicans, and the two will face off on Tuesday. Brooklyn has a 2-4 record to start the season and they too, have scored over 100 in each of their games. Kyrie Irving has been fantastic, averaging 30.5 points per game, the second highest in mark in the NBA.
Tough game to call here. The Nets start as slight favourites at home but we can see either side winning this one, we do like the over on Brandon Ingrams points though. Both teams are in the bottom five in points allowed per game and both teams are in the top five in points scored per game. We expect this to be a bit of a track meet and finish with a high total score. Ingram has been the go-to guy for the Pelicans in the absence of Zion Williamson, averaging 23.5 points per game.
Ingram OVER 21.5 points
$1.83
Milwaukee Bucks at Minnesota Timberwolves (12pm AEDT)
The Minnesota Timberwolves will be without star centre Karl-Anthony Towns for the second game of his two game suspension when they face the Bucks at home. They managed without Towns in their dominant win over the Wizards on the road on Sunday, but will be up against one of the best teams in the league on Tuesday.
The Bucks have started the season with a 4-2 record and currently sit in fourth place in the Eastern Conference. They will start as heavy 6.5 point favourites on the road, which seems about right given the Wolves are without their star centre. Giannis Antetokounmpo has been fantastic so far this season, averaging 26.7 points, 13.8 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game.
The Bucks should win this game on the road but the line is a really tough one to navigate. We like the look of Wolves forward Robert Covington. After averaging just 10.25 points through the first four games of teh season, Covington got a massive increase in usage in game five, putting up 10 shots in just 19 minutes of play to score 20 points. With Towns out of the lineup again, we like his point line.
Covington OVER 13.5 points
$1.83
Houston Rockets at Memphis Grizzlies (12.10pm AEDT)
After putting up 159 points against the Wizards last week, the Rockets have lost back to back games to the Nets and Heat and will be on the second night of a road back to back when they face the Grizzlies on Tuesday. They currently have a 3-3 record and while their starting unit has looked dominant at times, the consistency is just not there at the moment.
There’s no doubt the Grizzlies are in a rebuild phase at the moment, and their record suggests that as they sit 1-4 through the opening f5 games. They have showed some real promise, however, losing two of those games by single digits as well as claiming a win over the Nets.
Ja Morant has been a shining light for the Grizzlies and should continue to get plenty of minutes and plenty of usage. The Rockets allow more points per game than any other team in the competition at 126.6. The Grizzlies should score 100+ here and if that’s the case, we find it hard to believe Morant won’t score 18 of them.
Morant OVER 17.5 points
