Round 3 of the AFLW season saw all four underdogs win matches so Round 4 will be an interesting Round with a number of teams in contention for the Flag. Round 4 starts with the Bulldogs and Blues at Whitten Oval and we take a look at all four games and give our tips below.
AFL Women's Round 4 Betting Tips
Western Bulldogs v Carlton (Friday, February 23, 7.05pm AEDT)
To start the round, it will be 3rd (Bulldogs) against 4th (Blues) on the ladder. Both sides are 2-1 this season so both teams will be fighting for a 3-1 start. The Bulldogs were good against the Crows last week but were undone by some Erin Phillips magic. While for the Blues, they lost heavily against the Lions at home. The problem for the Blues is goal kicking. They’ve kicked 8 goals and 22 behinds this season. The Bulldogs are much more accurate with 17 goals and 14 behinds. But they are now missing star forward Katie Brennan this week. With Isabel Huntington out for the season, the Bulldogs forward line is looking depleted. The Blues are also without Tayla Harris up forward so points will be at a premium. In the end, with a number of scoring options out for both teams, take the under total points when it’s available.
TIP: Under Total Points (TBA)
Brisbane Lions v Fremantle (Saturday, February 24, 4.35pm AEDT)
Brisbane is back on top of the ladder after they thrashed the Blues at Ikon Park. They’re now 8-1-1 in AFLW regular season matches and will be confident against Fremantle at home. The Dockers are probably the most surprising team so far as they sit 5th on the ladder with a 2-1 record. They produced a stunning upset against the heavily favoured Demons last week as well. In the end, it’s a long trip for Fremantle, especially after an emotional win against the Demons. The Lions are better defensively as they showed against the Blues and that will be the main difference.
TIP: Brisbane 1-24 at CrownBet ($2.20)
Melbourne v Collingwood (Saturday, February 24, 7.10pm AEDT)
This match will be played in the Northern Territory and should be an interesting matchup. Both sides lost last week and that makes this a must win match. The Demons started the season with two straight wins but lost a close one against the Dockers last week. While for Collingwood, they’re the only side without a win and will be desperate against Melbourne. But they just lack scoring options and that will hurt them against the Demons. Melbourne cost themselves with 4 goals, 7 behinds last week, but still easily lead the AFLW with 132 points in 3 matches. They also beat the Magpies by 19 points in the last meeting and won their last match at TIO Stadium.
TIP: Melbourne -11.5 at CrownBet ($1.90)
GWS Giants v Adelaide Crows (Sunday, February 25, 4.35pm AEDT)
In the last match of the round, this will be another interesting contest. Both sides won their first match of the season last week and a 2-2 record will keep the winning side in contention for the flag. For the Crows, Erin Phillips was a huge inclusion as she led her side with 4 goals in a 7 point win. Meanwhile the Giants started slowly against the Magpies but ended up winning by 13 points. But, they’re a hard side to read as their form has fluctuated this season. The Crows have missed Phillips and that will be the difference in the sides. The Giants don’t have the best defence in the league and she will take advantage.
TIP: Adelaide -5.5 at William Hill ($1.90)
