2017 NFL: Week 7 Preview & Betting Tips

October 19th 2017, 5:16pm, By: andyrosos

Tough week for us in Week 6 of the NFL as we hit on just 1 of 4 bets after a few solid weeks in a row. We’ll be aiming for a bounce back weekend here as we preview Week 7 of the NFL and give our betting tips below.

NFL Week 7 Betting Tips

Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders (Friday 11.25am AEST)

Both the Raiders and Chiefs are coming off disappointing losses in Week 6 as Oakland went down to the Chargers by just one point and the Chiefs suffered their first loss of the year, a six point loss to the Steelers. Oakland QB Derek Carr was a little out of touch on the weekend after missing the game before due to injury and will be hoping he can return to form here to snap a four game Oakland losing streak.

Kansas wont be too disheartened by their loss, they still hold the best record in the NFL but the game in Oakland represents real danger in the AFC West division. Kansas start as 3 point favourites for the game, which is understandable given their hot start to the season but a game in the legs of Derek Carr should yield a big improvement this weekend and at home, we like the Raiders to bounce back here.

TIP: Oakland Raiders to win - $2.36 at Sportsbet

Atlanta Falcons at New England Patriots (Monday 11.30am AEST)

Regarldess of how bad the Patriots defence is at the moment; Bill Belichick and his men just manage to find ways to keep winning in close contests. They overcame the Jets in a tight match on the weekend as Tom Brady threw for 257 yards and 2 TD’s. The Pats defence still gave up a whopping 408 yards in the game but were able to force two interceptions on Jets QB Josh McCown and keep the Jets to just 17 points.

Coincidentally, the Hawks have scored exactly 17 points in their last two games, both losses to other AFC East teams in the Bills and Dolphins. They’ll face off against the Jets after the Patriots to make if four games in a row against AFC East teams and already facing a 0-2 record with two games at home, they’ll be lucky if they can win their next two on the road to finish the stretch with a .500 record. The Patriots are slowly turning their defence around, which is what was expected with Belichick at the helm and we like them to hold the home field advantage here.

TIP: New England Patriots -3 - $1.83 at Ladbrokes

Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles (Tuesday 11.30am AEST)

Arguably the game of the round sees NFC East rivals go head to head in the Eagles and Redskins. Should be an interesting clash between the 5-1 Philly team and the 3-2 Redskins, who can pull one game closer and tie the season series with the Eagles. Philly has looked like a worthy Super Bowl contender through the opening rounds of the season with a well-rounded team that can stop both the pass and the rush.

While Washington have looked streaky at best, they have shown some ability to put up some big scores. It really depends on what sort of form Kirk Cousins is on in the day and the defence they are playing against. Philadelphia have the best rush defence in the league and while the stats don’t really back it up, their pass defence is underrated. We think they should be too much for Cousins to handle here, especially in Philly.

TIP: Philadelphia -4.5 - $1.92 at Sportsbet

New Orleans Saints at Green Bay Packers (Monday 4am AEST)

Really interesting matchup here as the Packers suit up for their first game without starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who will miss the rest of the season with a broken collarbone sustained in last week’s loss to the Vikings. Brett Hundley will line up at QB for the Packers, and while he looked shaky after being inserted last weekend, a full week of preparation and tailoring of the offence to his game style should help a lot.

New Orleans put up a season high 52 points against the Lions last weekend as their defence scored 3 TD’s and Drew Brees added another 2 in the air. With the sheer amount of points that New Orleans put up on a week to week basis, we think that they will score way too many for the Hundley led offence to keep up, but it’s a player market that we like the most here. The Packers will inevitably switch to a run heavy offence for this one in an attempt to limit Hundley’s responsibilities, get on Ty Montgomery’s OVERS for rushing yards, whatever they might be.

TIP: Ty Montgomery OVER rushing yard line – price and line to come
