Without their star small forward, Kawhi Leonard, in Game 2 on Tuesday the San Antionio Spurs never looked in the game and surrendered a 2-0 lead to the Golden State Warriors. Leonard should be back as the series moves to San Antonio for Game 3 on Sunday, the 21st of May.
Steph Curry was massive in the win for the Warriors, going for 29 points with 7ast and 7reb. Six other Warriors players scored in double figures as the bench players got plenty of minutes towards the end of the game as Golden State secured a massive 36 point win.
The Spurs will hope the addition of Leonard for game three will completely change the dynamic of the team defensively. We saw the Spurs shoot out to a 23-point lead in game one before Leonard went down with an ankle injury and they will be aiming for similar type defence this game.
Both the Warriors and the Cavaliers are 12-0 through the postseason so far and have both looked unstoppable especially on offence, shooting the 3pt shot at record percentages. With the amount of great shooters the Warriors have, it’s hard for everyone to get their fare share every game. Klay Thompson has been underperforming (by his standards) in the last 4 or 5 games the Warriors have played but with a 2-0 lead and nothing to lose in San Antonio, look for his teammates to get him involved more here.
TIP: Klay Thompson OVER points – Check closer to game for line/price
The Spurs get the home court advantage for this contest where they have only lost one game in the payoffs so far. It’s hard to look past the Warriors in their current form, however, and with the possibility of Kawhi re-injuring the ankle or not being fully match fit, we think the Warriors take a 3-0 lead here.
Both games one and two have easily hit the 212 total point line and we think with Golden State’s ability to score 120 at will, the OVER is once again a good bet.
