After a few strong days in our MLB betting tips, we stumbled on Tuesday, hitting on just 1 of our 3 bets. We’ll look for a bounce back day here as we preview some of the key games of this Thursday, the 17th of August including the ESPN televised Mets at Yankees.
New York Mets at New York Yankees (9am AEST)
Tuesday’s clash between the two teams didn’t turn out to be the run fest we thought it would as the Yankees defeated the Mets 4 runs to 2. If neither offence could get it going against the pitchers on the mound Tuesday, then odds are they’ll struggle against the pair lining up this Thursday.
While both Jaime Garcia and Robert Gsellman both have ERA’s over 4.50, the Mets and Yankees offences haven’t looked on over the series so far, only just managing to scrap through 9 runs between them in Wednesday’s game to make it 15 from two games. With a 9.5 line again for this game we like the under here.

St Louis Cardinals at Boston Red Sox (9.10am AEST)
Boston lefty Eduardo Rodriquez looks to be back to his best after a sting on the DL after a great start last week against the Yankees. He is now 4-3 on the season with a 3.80 ERA but will have a hard matchup against the Cardinals and their fiery right hander Lance Lynn.
Boston’s offence is back in form after plundering 10 runs against the Cards in Wednesday’s matchup including a ridiculous 8 run 5th inning. Mid season recruit Eduardo Nunez along with Andrew Benintendi and 20-year-old Rafael Devers are all in blistering form with the bat and should be too much for the Cards at home.
TIP: Boston to win - $1.70 at Ladbrokes
Chicago White Sox at Los Angeles Dodgers (12.10pm AEST)
Mid season pickup Yu Darvish has been lights out in his first two starts for the Dodgers, recording over 10 strikeouts in each game for 2 wins along with a 1.50 ERA. He’ll make his home debut against the White Sox Thursday who have been struggling with the bat all season. They are a bottom five team in total run scored and a bottom 10 team in total hits, so should struggle against the in form Darvish.
The 2017 Dodgers recently became the fastest team in franchise history to 80 wins and their current 83-34 record has them at a staggering $1.30 favourites for this match. Not much value in the game line but with Darvish on the mound we like him to continue his streak here and keep the Sox to a respectable score.
