Chicago Cubs at New York Mets (Tuesday at 9.10am AEST)
Chicago Cubs travel to New York for the first of three games against the Mets. Chicago have lost the last three and are on the verge of a series sweep against the Rockies. Right hand pitcher John Lackey gets the nod for this matchup. Lackey’s year hasn't started as well as would like, as he fights to break his two game losing streak and improve his 4-6 record.
The Mets haven't won a series since the end of May and would love to break that drought against a Cubs team having a disappointing week. The Mets bring in one of their better pitchers at this current time in Jacob Degrom. He has been effective but got smashed in Texas last game, giving up eight runs on ten hits. The Mets' pitching has been an issue this year and are ranked last in the league for runs allowed this season.

Colorado Rockies at Pittsburgh Pirates (Tuesday at 9.05am AEST)
The Rockies are the hottest team in the National League and have won the past seven straight. They now lead the NL West division and are on the verge of sweeping the four game series over the Cubs. Colorado are 24-10 on the road this season which is a lot better than their home record, which is rare for a team leading the pack. Kyle Freeland will be aiming for his eighth win of the season as he is second on the win list for the Rockies with a 7-3 record. The Rockies pitching ranks one of the best in the league and is helped by a successful bullpen.
Pittsburgh are last in the NL Central Division and need something large to turn this year around. Despite having a successful series over the Mets last week, they now are 3-7 in the last ten games and are down 2-1 over Miami at this current time. Pittsburgh need to find some consistency in their pitchers and are hoping Jameson Taillon can help them out with this first games of the three game series. The Pirates have spilt their home record this season with 15 wins and 15 losses and will need a solid outing to claim the win.

New York Yankees at Los Angeles Angels (Tuesday at 12.05pm AEST)
The Yankees head west for a series against the Angels. The Yankees are red hot and have won the last five games straight. They embarrassed division leaders Baltimore over the break, sweeping the Orioles and outscoring them 38-8 in a dominance performance. They give Masahiro Tanaka the ball in this game as he tries to improve his 5-6 record and an ERA of 6.55.
The LA Angels have pulled together some strings early in the season and are second behind Houston in the AL West Division. The Angels are 5-5 in the past 10 and are coming off an impressive series win over Houston. They bring to the mound the 6ft 9’ right hand pitcher Alex Mayer for this matchup. He gets another crack with the ball after a solid game against the Tigers in which saw him give up three hits in six innings. The Angels are 18-12 at home this year and will give the Yankees a run for their money.
