Rosehill Racing Tips for Saturday February 18th

February 18th 2017, 9:09am, By: tim_tips

Rosehill Gardens hosts a 9 race program this weekend with the Silver Slipper, Hobartville Stakes and Millie Fox Stakes the feature races on the program. There is plenty of rain around in Sydney so I expect the track will come up in the Soft range on Saturday morning.

We have betting tips for all 9 races below.

Rosehill Racing Tips

Race 1

Pretty keen on SPENDING TO WIN here with the blinkers on for the first time. Narrowly defeated by Tactical Advantage two starts ago but has since run well in Group 3 company and with blinkers on, as well as some cut out of the ground, I think she can turn the tables. TACTICAL ADVANTAGE the main danger as SCARLET RAIN has 6kg more to carry than any other runner.

Tip: Spending To Win

Race 2

If the track is in the Soft range like I suspect it will I'll be all over ELLE LOU here for a couple of reasons. She has 5 wins from 7 starts on Soft ground, but hasn't won a single race from 10 starts on Good tracks so she seems like she really appreciates the cut out of the ground. She's had two reasonable runs back from a spell but she always improves sharply at her third run back from a spell with two wins and a 2nd from four third up runs. I think she's ready to peak here and gets conditions to suit so $6 looks very appealing.

Tip: Elle Lou

Race 3

I've got this between ANTONIO GIUSEPPE and GOLD SYMPHONY. Antonio Guiseppe went to Group 1 level last prep and the 1500m is suitable enough for him to be able to win first up from a spell. He's had two trials leading into today so he should be fit enough to run a big race. I'll be backing Gold Symphony, though, with the soft track the key. He will have fitness on his edge and he's won 3 from 5 on soft tracks with a 2nd placing too. Down in the weights, he can win again just as he did a few starts ago on a soft track.

Tip: Gold Symphony

Race 4

The Highway Handicap over 1100m here and it looks a fairly competitive race. Pretty happy to be with KOORINGAL STAR who won both starts last prep with ease at Gundagai and Canberra, winning by a combined 6.3 lengths. Performed well on a Soft track on debut and gets senior jockey Jason Collett on board here from barrier 3. Has trialled leading into this but hasn't been off the track too long so should be fit enough to win here. Hardest to beat looks to be ZAKYNTHOS REGRETS who is flying this prep and gets a 3kg claimer on board so gets in very well at the weights. Barrier 8 will be tricky but his form has been good enough to win this.

Tip: Kooringal Star

Race 5

The Silver Slipper here and it's hard to go past SHE WILL REIGN who looks in a class of her own. She's won both of her official starts by a combined 12.3 lengths and if that wasn't enough she came out and won a trial by 9 lengths untouched. Bolted in last time we saw her on a Heavy track so the cut out of the ground will be no problem at all. KHAN looks the obvious danger but the filly should just jump, run and win.

Tip: She Will Reign

Race 6

With one of the horses I'm most excited about this Autumn which is COMIN' THROUGH. I thought his first up run was reasonable and good enough over an unsuitable distance to suggest he is on track for the Randwick Guineas. The step up in distance here is the key and with the run under his belt I expect him to be too good for this field. He'd want to be if he was to be a realistic winning chance for the Guineas, but I think this is a seriously good horse and he can reel off a serious sectional when he is at his top. We saw him beat Morton's Fork in Group 3 company last prep and he gets a 2.5kg weight swing on Man From Uncle today which is enough for him to clearly go on top. Closely related to Criterion who loved the mud, and won on a Soft track on debut so no issues there. I've got ACATOUR as the hardest to beat. He pulled up lame behind COMIN' THROUGH at the end of last prep but he's very good and won't mind the cut out of the ground. MAN FROM UNCLE's win first up was no fluke and he should be thereabouts again.

Tip: Comin' Through (Best Bet) / Acatour EW

Race 7

Good race this with a number of winning chances. EURO ANGEL might be looking for a touch further than 1300m here but if she has improved following her spell then she should run a mighty race here. She's a Group 3 winner over 1600m but she's won races in very good style over shorter than that. She has never finished outside the top 2 when first up from a spell and her trial leading into this was particularly good. Has finished in the top 2 at every start on Soft ground, draws to get a dream run and is weighted well enough to win. I think the $6.50 is a good enough price to bet each way here and I think she'll give us a very good sight. There does seem to be some value in the race  IF the track is indeed soft. HEAVEN'S ABOVE and PRIVATE SECRETARY are both very talented and go well on Soft going, while the best value in my opinion is SOLD FOR SONG. This horse is undefeated on Soft going and on his best form would be competitive here at 20/1.

Tip: Euro Angel

Race 8

ALLERGIC was well beaten first up but that's normal given she's never placed first up from 5 starts previously. She always improves second up though, and won under very similar conditions second up last preparation over 1800m on a Soft track. I think she's better suited than Red Excitement and Religify here, who both will want the track as firm as possible and have to carry big weights. Religify is also a slight query at the distance having never run 1900m before. $6 looks a good bet to me for Allergic.

Tip: Allergic

Race 9

Pretty keen on another Godolphin runner here in ALUCINARI. She should have won first up last prep where she carried 59.5kg and didn't have a lot of luck. That was at this exact track and distance and it was also on a wet track so given she gets in here with just 53kg I think she's set to go extremely close. The blinkers go on for the first time, she draws well and she loves the distance so at $6.50 I think she's a great bet. ZIGGY WILLIE continues to race well and drops down to a winnable weight here.

Tip: Alucinari
