NFL 2022-23: Week 2 Tuesday Preview & Betting Tips

September 19th 2022, 3:38pm, By: Ben Bridge

NFL Betting Tips

We’re lucky enough to get two Monday Night Football games this week, with both games featuring some of the best teams in the NFL.

We kick things off in Buffalo, with the Bills (1-0) taking on the Tennessee Titans (0-1), and whilst both teams were Division winners last year, they appear to be going in different directions. Nevertheless, the Titans have recent history of playing the Bills tough, with this game sure to go a long way in confirming if each of these teams are who we think they are.

Then, in the final game of week 2, the Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) host the Minnesota Vikings (1-0) in a clash between two very impressive week 1 teams. With the way the NFC is shaping up this year, we could be seeing an early season clash between two of the top teams in the NFC, and this should be an absolute beauty of a contest.

Let's get stuck into our NFL Week 2 Betting tips for this Tuesday slate!

NFL Week 2 Betting Tips - Tuesday September 20th 2022

Tennessee Titans at Buffalo Bills

New Era Field, Tuesday 9:15am AEST

These two sides had quite different results in week 1, with the Bills travelling to Los Angeles to take on the Super Bowl Champion Rams on Thursday Night Football, coming away with a dominant 31-10 victory. The Titans on the other hand lost to a New York Giants team that went for a two-point conversion late to take the lead and succeeded. It was a poor home loss for the Titans, who led 13-0 at half time, and questions will be asked if they aren’t at least competitive in this one.

The Bills offense looked great for the most part, however, gave up 4 turnovers in an area of the game that head coach Sean McDermott will want addressed immediately. The more impressive side of the ball though for the Bills was their defence. They were able to get regular pressure on Stafford, despite only bringing 4, and will look to have similar success rushing Ryan Tannehill this week.

The Titans will want to lean heavily on Derrick Henry, and whilst I won’t say just yet that he seems to be on the decline, I don’t know that he’s the player he was in years gone by. If the Bills can limit his explosive plays, they should win this comfortably. The look ahead was Bills -7.5, before the number opened this week at Bills -10, with the number now settling around Bills -9.5. I prefer the Bills in this one, however so far this year underdogs have covered 3 of the 4 spreads in prime-time games, whilst all prime-time games have hit the under. But I’m far too worried about the Titans defence to bet a total under, so the Bills to cover and Titans team totals are where I’m looking in this one.

Other Bets:

Buffalo Bills (-9.5) - $1.93 @ Betfair (1u)

Stefon Diggs (over 69.5) receiving yards - $1.90 @ Bet365 (1u)

Tennessee Titans (team total) under 18.5

$1.90 (1.5 Units)

Minnesota Vikings at Philadelphia Eagles

Lincoln Financial Field, Tuesday 10:30am AEST

The Vikings, and in particular Justin Jefferson, looked sensational last week against a poor Green Bay Packers, winning 23-7. Jefferson had 9 catches for 184 yards and 2 touchdowns in a display that has seen him come in to around $7 for offensive player of the year (We’re on him at $17 from our season preview). The Vikings defence also looked solid; however, I’m taking more from the Packers’ struggling offense than the Vikings’ defence from last week.

The Eagles were great during quarters 2 and 3, outscoring the Lions 38-14 over that period, however, didn’t manage to score any points in the 1st or 4th quarters. The 4th quarter rally from the Lions was typical, and perhaps it could be argued the Eagles had the cue in the rack but giving up 35 points to a poor Lions team will have the coaching staff a little concerned.

This game opened around Eagles -2.5/-3, with the Vikings taking most of the early money, with the number coming down to around Eagles -1/-1.5. That number has bounced back to Eagles -2.5, which is more in line with my numbers. I have Eagles a 3.3-point favourite and given we can get the key number of 3 with Eagles -2.5, this will be my bet for this one.

I do believe both these sides will make the playoffs this year, and this has the potential for being a really good matchup to finish week 2 in the NFL.

Other Bets:

Over 50.5 points - $1.95 @ TAB

AJ Brown (over 72.5) receiving yards - $1.88 @ Ladbrokes

Justin Jefferson (over 97.5) receiving yards - $1.90 @ Bet365

Philadelphia Eagles (-2.5)

$1.90 (1.5 Units)
