NSW’s Wednesday Midweek racing heads to Canterbury for a seven-race card that is expected to be in heavy conditions. Selections are based on a wet track.

Canterbury Racing Tips – Wednesday, May 3rd 2023
Race 4 – Tab BM72 (2:35pm AEST)
(6) Loose Love is one I had in my selections LS and won nicely. Almost 2L. Absolutely relishes the heavy deck and gets it again today. On the quick back up and rises in class, but worth an each way play.
(1) Storm King is another wet tracker who won last start. Has to lug 62kg though. Always hard to carry weight in the wet. Watch the market.
(5) Sprout Wings won first up at odds on the heavy track. Rises in distance and keeps the same weight. Proven second up and at this distance. Worth thought?

Race 5 – Furphy BM72 (3:10pm AEST)
(3) Famous Pedrille won first up over this trip and then has ran on nicely for three straight fourths, but against some smarter horses. Yet to win on the heavy, but wasn’t all that far off LS. Will be fit for this, but dry track is key.
(10) Miss Hellfire’s previous two outings have been okay and gets a weight relief today. Succeeded on the wet track once before. I think she will be rock hard fit now and ready to fire. Early drift, so I’d suggest taking TT.
(8) Damaged I’m happy to forgive last start where he was well held, but three prior to that were okay. Only beaten a length two back in open class. Proven over this trip and maybe over the odds here?
(10) Miss Hellfire – Win

Race 6 – Bowermans BM72 (3:50pm AEST)
(13) Buillt is a 3YO out of I am Invincible who won first up this prep and then battled on to finish 4th at Randwick second up. Rises in trip and loses some weight with J Mac still in the saddle. Would expect him to be ready third up to go close here. Draws a nice alley.
(10) Speed legend is effective in the wet this one and they’ve got Jeff Stanley to steer with a 3kg claim. Gets in light and could be a sniff each way. Wide gate is a concern.
(13) Buillt – Win
