Bendigo Racing Tips: Saturday April 1st

March 30th 2023, 6:31pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Bendigo Racing Tips

Bendigo gets another chance to host Saturday Racing with the Golden Mile the highlight of the nine-race program.

The first gets under way at 12:25pm, with gallopers likely running on a Soft track after 10mls of rain fell on the region midweek.

Munhamek will start favourite in the mile in a tricky race to dissect for punters.

My four best bets of the program are below!

Bendigo Racing Tips – Saturday, April 1st 2023

Race 1

(6) Illation if on is 3 lengths quicker than these but his is risky proposition if he starts below even money. He has burnt punters before but after being scratched last start the Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr stable will be confident they have him right. He has had 4 jumpouts since pulling up with breathing issues in the Memsie but he has won on Soft ground before and he seems to be over his issues.

(5) Imperial Lad has drawn the inside alley and looks the likely leader in this. His 2nd up form in fine and so are the track conditions. Definite threat.

(7) Lucky Decision drops weight with Carleen Hefel on and should get a nice trail behind Imperial Lad in the run.

(4) Noname Lane is fitter now and has won 9 of 15 races on Soft ground. He will be on pace and thereabouts if they don't go too hard up front. Linda Meech to take the ride and she has won on him before.

(6) Illation - WIN

$2.25 (3 Units)

Race 4

(7) Sing For Peace is the tip on the back of his last start Pakenham win where he settled nicely and was strong to the line. The Patrick Payne gelding has won over this distance before and is 2 from 2 on Soft ground. He is 3rd up and the last time he was 3rd up he got the victory as well. The rise in trip from his last start win looks ideal and he's on top.

(9) Wahine Toa gets Harry Coffey on after an unlucky 11th last start. She is strong but this Soft track is a slight concern.

(6) Sous Les Nuages is very fit now after a sound effort at The Valley when 5th. He carries 3.5kg less in this with Declan Bates on top but it has been 6 months in between wins.

(5) Mr French may lead this and if he does, he will try the same tactics as his Valley win on March 5. Is better on Dry ground.

(7) Sing For Peace - WIN

$2.50 (2 Units)

Race 5

(4) Life Lessons is in an easier race here compared to the Group 3 Shafsbury Avenue where she was 7th but only beaten 3.5L. On that occasion he settled about 8th and didn't get much room on the tight track. First try here but has won twice over this distance and twice on Soft ground. Peter Moody and Dan Stackhouse combine and Stacky has had 3 wins on this one. She is 2nd up from a spell and has won fresh previously and she will likely settle midfield in this one.

(6) Belle Savoir is first up from the inside barrier here and she is 2 from 2 when first up. She likes the sting out of the ground and is in for a good prep.

(5) La Dragontea is another who is fresh up and will likely settle behind the leader from barrier 2. Her last run was in the Geelong Cup and she will obviously need it longer in the weeks ahead.

(8) Shohei won well at Newcastle but will find this race a lot tougher. Will have her admirers though for Team Hawkes.

(4) Life Lessons - WIN

$4 (2 Units)

Race 8

(5) Munhamek has been up for a while but is probably the fittest horse in the race. He has won his last couple easily and has surprised many racing pundits of how well he is going. It’s his first try at Bendigo but he is a versatile type and it probably doesn’t matter where he settles in the run. In saying that he does normally settle midfield and even if he is slightly worse than midfield here, it might not worry him with the longer straight here.

(6) Visinari has drawn wide in 13 but should be stronger 2nd up after running 10th in Group company last start.

(9) Here to Shock was on pace and won at Echuca after beating Munhamek at Hillside before that. Interesting runner who has won 6 of 18 now.

(2) Just Folk will give Josh Julius his biggest win yet if he can get up. Gets better with racing normally.

(5) Munhamek - WIN

$2.60 (3 Units)
