The past weekend saw the commencement of the largest-ever tournament by TopBetta, as the Brisbane Carnival Tournament started with 755 entrants into the racing tournament with a guaranteed $250,000 prize pool.
The tournament is spread over the four days of the Brisbane racing carnival and you can still buy into the competition this Saturday for a chance to walk home with the first place prize of at least $100,000.
The buy-in to the tournament is just $110 and punters are allowed up to 10 rebuys each day into the tournament.
Each competitor started the tournament with $10,000 BettaBucks and the leader Crawfordrs has managed to turn his start bank into $200,000 BettaBucks to claim the early tournament lead after Day 1 of play. TopBetta spoke to the leader and he said he's confident that he will be able to maintain his advantage and earn a massive payday.
“I think it is safe to say I have the tournament pretty much wrapped up,” Crawfordrs stated with tongue-in-cheek despite leading second place Glennsta by just $18,500.
Crawfordrs rose up the leader board by placing two big bets that paid off. His first was to load up $35,000 on ARCHIVES which earned him a $119,000 return before he placed a $100,000 bet on TSARITSA which saw him leapfrog all the other competitors.
Glennsta moved into second place with arguably the most impressive bet of the day. He scored a massive win of $68,250 on SNIPPETS LAND as it was paying $19.50 to be first past the post. However, Glennsta isn’t as confident as Crawfordrs as he recognises there is still a long way to go in the four-day event.
“We are both still 50-100 to 1 chances. There is a long, long way to go,” explained Glennsta.
Each competitor who cashed in on the end of Day 1 will be given a new starting amount of $10,000 on both Day 2 and Day 3, and at the start of Day 4 each player will have their amounts from the first three days pooled together for a crazy final day of betting.
