The champion mare will line up in the Group 1 Winx Stakes (1400m), which she has won the past two years when formerly known as the Warwick Stakes at Group 2 level.
The three-time Cox Plate winner headlines a star-studded field and will be attempting to break the record she currently shares with Black Caviar of 25 consecutive wins. If she does win on Saturday, it will be her 19th victory at Group 1 level.
Among her 13 rivals will be five individual Group 1 winners: Ace High, D’Argento, Single Gaze, Unforgotten and star Godolphin colt Kementari. With that said, we could well see a number of those rivals scratched in preference for other races.
Chris Waller noted on Twitter on Tuesday that he was very happy with Winx, while jockey Hugh Bowman believes she is more forward than what she was when she won the race in amazing circumstances first up last year.
Winx had a solid workout this morning with Hugh Bowman in the saddle. I am very happy with her preparation work & Hugh said she feels great ahead of Saturday’s race at Randwick. @atc_races @Racing @SkyRacingAU @winx_horse @worldsbesthorse @HugeBowman pic.twitter.com/byRAuF1QIx

Since winning the 2016 Cox Plate by eight lengths, Winx’s longest starting price has been $1.26, so the $2 on offer for her to finish in the first two this weekend is basically free money. The promotion can be found on the Ladbrokes home page under the 'Quick Links' navigation bar.
Ladbrokes are also offering $3.00 for Winx to win four or more races this Spring as she attempts to become the first horse to ever win four Cox Plates!
